SUMMARV OF LpTERAL INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Only one building may connect to the sewer main per lateral unless otherv✓ise approved by TriCo.
2. Foundationdrains,sumpdrains,downspoutsandothersrormwaterdrainsshallneverbeconnectedmthe
sanitary sewer. Site dewa[ering systems shall never be discharged to the saniiary sewer.
3. The ecisting sewer line from ffie building to [he septic tank may only be reused if it is located under a building
addition, patio, porch or paved driveway, and [he line passes an air test ffia[ is observed by TriCo. Contact TriCo for
more information about air [es[ing requirements. The property owner is responsible tar testing rosts.
4. TriCoshallinspeRallnewlateralsorlateralr¢pairsinffieirentirety.Finalmnnectionmffiesanitarysewermustbe
observed by Trim. The property owner or rontractor must notify TriCo prior ro backfilling. Inspettions must be
soheduled at least 24 hours in advance. It an inspection fails and subsequent inspections are requiretl, or rf the
mntractor is not on site tor the scheduled inspection, a 5300 fee will be assessed antl must be paid prior to
scheduling the reinspectian.
5. Septic system contents or effluent shall never be discharged to the sanitary sewer. Be advised that your county
health department regulates septic systems. Upon connection ro sanitary sewer, a sep[ic tank must rypically be
abandoned, pumped dean, and filled romple�ely wiffi earthen materiaL Contact your rounty health department for
more information an sep[ic rystem and abandonment requirements, and m notify ffie department of any
abandonment.

PVC pipe: SDR 35 or SDR 26, ASTM D3034, 6" diameter
PVC pipe, pressure rated: SDR 21, ASTM D2241, 6" diameter
PVC restrained joint pipe for directional dnlling: Certaflo Greenline SDR 21, ASTM D2241, 6" diameter
All gasketed loints shall meet ASTM D3217
All fittings shall be SDR26 or better
Ductile imn mechanical jaint fittings wiffi proper hardware

Femco and similar flexible muplings are only acceptable in certain circumstances and shall not be used without

7. Forgraviryandlow-pressuresystems,thelineleavingthebuildingshallnotexceed3'inlengthheforeadeanout

additional glued fittings are allowed between the building and the transition/deanouL Por all graviry lines, deanouts
shall not be spaced more than 300' apart between the building and the sewer main. See TriCo's standard drawings
for more information on deanout installation,
8. Bedding material shall be placed from at least 6 inches below ro 12 inches above the pipe surtace. The trench shall
be a minimum of 1&' wide wi[h at least 6" of dearance on boffi sides of [he pipe. Material shall be placed over [he
pipe and trarer wire aker inspection. Soft, unstable or unsuitable ma[erial found below and near ffie la[eral,
induding any fill or foundation 6ackfill material, must be removed and replaced with #8 srone. The conttacror is
solely responsible for establishing sta6le pipe bedding mnditions.

wire shall use 3M splice kit model DBRN-6, King Innovation Dryconn Direct Bury Lug Aqua catalog IX90220, or TriCo
approved equal.
30. Laterals shall be installed at least 20'trom water wells unless PVC pressure grade pipe is used. Any proposed
installation requiring pressure pipe shall be reviewed by TriCo prior to installation. Where a transition is made
between SDR 35 pipe and pressure grade S�R 21 pipe, a ductile iron gasketed mechanical couplings must be used.
11. Laterals less ffian 5' deep shall be at least 24" fmm [he pmperty line. Laterals more than 5' deep shall be at least 36"
from the property line. VJhere the lateral mns in dose pmximiry to the property line the proper[y mmers must be
accurately staked by a professional land surveyor prior to inspection.
12. Laterals running parallel to a building or struRure shall be at least 3fi" from the tace of a crawl space or slah on grade
foundation and 60" from [he face ot a basement foundation wall. Spacing requirements also apply with respec[ to
the ancillary structure's faundation depth. Ancillary structures (e.g. window wells) and other utilities shall not be
placed over or near ffie lateral. TriCo may adjust requirements where future access to ffie lateral may be obstructed
by other utilities. The con[ractor should call to discuss further if he/she believes this muld be an issue.
13. All infrastructure mnnected to TriCo's sewer system may 6e tested, inspected, or televised at TriCa's discretion, and
must remain accessible and properly maintained.

GENERAL NOTES
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIfY:

72 HOURS PRIOR TO BEGINNING ANY CONSTRUCTION. UTILIN
COMPANIES WILL ESTABLISH, ON THE GROUND, THE LOCATION OF
UNDERGROUND PIPES, MAINS, CONDUITS OR CABLES ADJOINING OR
CROSSING PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION.
2 CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE MUNICIPALIN AND THE ENGINEER A
MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF PERFORMING ANY WORK.
RENOTIFICATION SHALL BE REQUIRED IF ANY PHASE OF WORK IS
SUSPENDED FOR MORE THAN TWO (2) DAYS.
3. THE FOLLOWING CODES AND STANDARDS, AS APPLICABLE, SHALL
GOVERN CONSTRUCTION UNDER THIS CONTRACT:
A. STATE OF INDIANA, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
"STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE
CONSTRUCTION", AND THE SUPPLEMENTAL SPECIFICATIONS AND
RECURRING SPECIAL PROVISIONS'", LATEST EDITION AND ALL
SUBSEQUENT REVISIONS THERETO, HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO
AS THE HIGHWAY STANDARDS.
B. "STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR WATER AND SEWER MAIN
CONSTRUCTION IN INDIANA��, LATEST EDITION AND ALL
SUBSEQUENT REVISIONS THERETO, HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO
AS THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS.
C. "STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL ITEMS",
LATEST EDITION AND ALL SUBSEQUENT REVISIONS THERETO.
D. THESE ��GENERAL NOTES��.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TRAFFIC CONTROL IN CONFORMANCE
WITH THE "MANUAL ON UMFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES FOR
STREETS AND HIGHWAYS", STATE OF INDIANA, AND SECTION 107.14
OF THE HIGHWAY STANDARDS. BARRICADES AND OTHER REQUIRED
TRAFFIC CONTROL SHALL BE CONSIDERED WCIDENTAL TO
CONSTRUCTION, UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED.
5. UTILITIES SHOWN M THE PLANS ARE FOR THE CONTRACTOR�S
CONVENIENCE AND ARE APPROXIMATE ONLY. THE UTILITIES ARE
LOCATED FROM THE BEST AVAILABLE WFORMATION. THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL VEPoFY IN THE FIELD ALL TYPES, SIZES AND LOCATIONS OF
EXISTING UTILITIES.
CAUTION: THERE MAY BE OVERHEAD AND BURIED POWER LMES WHICH
COULD POSSIBLY INTERFERE OR BE A SAFEN HAZARD WITH
EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS.
6. PRIOR TO COMMENCING WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE IN HIS
POSSESSION ALL REQUIRED PERMITS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THIS
PROJECT AS NECESSARY (E.G., INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION, INDIANA ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY,
HAMILTON COUNN HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT, RAILROADS, PUBLIC UTILIiY
COMPANIES, ETC.). THESE PERMITS WILL BE OBTAWED AS
SPECIFIED IN THE '"SPECIAL PROVISIONS".
7. ALL CURB AND GUTTER REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT SHALL BE
COMPLETED PRIOR TO PLACING ANY BITUMINOUS MATERIAL ON THAT
STREET SEGMENT.
8. DURING CURB AND GUTTER REMOVAL OPERATIONS, THE CONTRACTOR WILL
BE REQUIRED TO CONSTRUCT A GRAVEL RAMP TO MAINTAIN ACCESS TO
DRIVEWAYS. PLACEMENT AND REMOVAL OF THE TEMPORARY RAMPS WILL
BE CONSIDERED INCIDENTAL TO THE COST OF THE MATERIAL, AND NO
ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION WILL BE ALLOWED.
9. ALL PAVING OF BUTT JOWTS SHALL BE DONE AT THE SAME TIME AS
THE ADJOINING STREET AND SHALL BE DONE WITH A BITUMINOUS
PAVING MACHWE.
10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PLACE WARNING SIGNS 48 HOURS PRIOR TO
PLACEMENT OF PRIME COAT AND COMMENCEMENT OF PAVWG
OPERATIONS.
11. IF A PERIOD OF TEN CALENDAR DAYS ELAPSES A�ER THE PLACEMENT
OF ANY BITUMINOUS COURSE, THE CONTRACTOR MAY BE REQUIRED TO
PLACE ANOTHER PRIME COAT AT NO ADDITIONAL COST.
12 THE THICKNESS OF THE BITUMINOUS COURSES SHOWN ON THE PLANS
IS THE NOMINAL THICKNESS. DEVIATIONS FROM THE NOMINAL
THICKNESS WILL OCCUR DUE TO IRREGULARITIES IN THE EXISTING
SURFACE ON WHICH THE BITUMINOUS COURSE IS PLACED.
13. WHERE BITUMINOUS OVERLAYS ARE PLACED ON WTERSECTING
STREETS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE CONSTRUCTION TO
ALLOW A HOT JOINT BETWEEN THE TWO SURFACES; OR HE SHALL SAW
CUT TO A MINIMUM DEPTH OF 1-1/Y' TO PROVIDE A UNIFORM
VERTICAL FACE AGAINST WHICH TO BUTT THE SUBSEQUENT SURFACE
COURSE.
14. WHEN LOOSE MATERIAL IS DEPOSITED IN DITCHES OR GUTTERS, IT
SHALL BE REMOVED BEFORE THE END OF EACH WORKING DAY. THIS
WORK WILL NOT BE PAID FOR SEPARATELY BUT WILL BE CONSIDERED
WCIDENTAL TO THE CONTRACT.
15. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO RESTORE ALL
FEATURES DISTURBED DURING CONSTRUCTION TO THEIR ORIGINAL
STATE, OR BETTER. ALL RESTORATION WORK REQUIRED BEYOND THE
SCOPE OF THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS SHALL BE DONE AT THE
CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE UNLESS WORK WAS DONE AT THE DIRECTION
OF THE OWNER OR ENGWEER AND COMPENSATION WAS AGREED UPON
PRIOR TO EXECUTION OF WORK.
16. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO PROTECT ALL
NECESSARY PAVEMENT OPENINGS AND CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS LEFT IN
THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY WITH LIGHTED DEVICES. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN HIGH VISIBILIN OF ALL TEMPORARY
HAZARDS TO PEDESTRIANS AND MOTORISTS. REMOVAL OF ANY SUCH
TEMPORARY HAZARDS SHALL BE DONE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
17. ALL EXISTING DRAINAGE STRUCTURES WITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS
THAT WILL BE ADJUSTED OR RECONSTRUCTED, SHALL BE CLEANED TO
THE SATISFACTION OF THE ENGINEER. ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH
THIS SHALL BE INCWDED W THE APPLICABLE UMT PRICES.
18. THE GRADING AND CONSTRUCTION OF PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS SHALL
NOT CAUSE PONDING OF STORM WATER. GRADING SHALL BE DONE TO
ALLOW POSITNE DRAINAGE. "DITCH CHECKS" AND/OR SILT FENCES,
UNLE55 OTHERW6E SPECIFIED, SHALL BE INSTALLED, IF
NECESSARY, TO PREVENT EROSION. COST OF THIS WORK SHALL BE
CONSIDERED INCIDENTAL TO CONSTRUCTION.
19. PLACEMENT OF TOPSOIL AND SEEDING OR SODDING SHALL BE
COMPLETED WITHIN 10-15 DAYS AFTER THE COMPLETION OF CURB AND
GUTTER, PAVING AND/OR DRIVEWAY REPLACEMENT OPERATIONS,
UNLE55 OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY THE ENGWEER.
20. UTILITY SERVICES TO RESIDENTS OR BUSWESSES WHICH ARE
INTERRUPTED BY CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE RESTORED AT THE EXPENSE
OF THE CONTRACTOR SO THAT NO SERVICE IS WTERRUPTED FOR MORE
THAN FOUR (4) HOURS. IF TEMPORARY SERVICE IS REQUIRED, THE
EXPENSE FOR SAME SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
CONTRACTOR.
21. THE EDGES OF ALL IMPROVED SURFACES WHICH ARE DISTURBED DURWG
CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE SAW CUT PRIOR TO RESTORATION. ANY SAW
CUTTING OF PAVEMENT PATCHES, BUTT JOINTS, CONCRETE CURBS,
SIDEWALKS, OR ANY OTHER AREAS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THIS
PROJECT WILL NOT BE PAID FOR SEPARATELY BUT SHALL BE
CONSIDERED INCIDENTAL TO CONSTRUCTION, UNLESS OTHERWISE
SPECIFIED.
22 MANHOLE RIM ELEVATIONS ARE PROVIDED TO ASSIST THE CONTRACTOR
IN ORDERING MATERIALS. THESE ELEVATIONS ARE FOR WFORMATION
ONLY, AND FINAL ADJUSTMENT OF STRUCTURES TO MEET SITE
CONDITIONS WILL BE NECESSARY. NO PAYMENT WILL BE MADE FOR
FINAL ADJUSTMENT OF STRUCTURES, AND THE COST THEREOF SHALL
BE INCIDENTAL TO AND WCLUDED IN THE CONTRACT UNIT PRICE FOR
SAID STRUCTURE.
23. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR KEEPING ALL STREETS
USED BY THE CONTRACTOR, SUB-CONTRACTORS, AND SUPPLIERS CLEAN
AND FREE OF ALL DIRT, MUD, AND OTHER CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS,
AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO CLEAN THEM AS IS NECESSARY IN ORDER
TO MAINTAIN THEM IN A SAFE, DRNEABLE CONDITION. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE ESPECIALLY RESPONSIVE TO REQUESTS FROM
THE ENGWEER, ENGINEER'S REPRESENTATIVE, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC
WORKS, SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS, POLICE AND FIRE
DEPARTMENTS, OR ANY OFFICIAL OF THE OWNER TO PRACTICE GOOD
HOUSEKEEPING THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF THIS PROJECL THIS
WORK WILL NOT BE PAID FOR SEPARATELY BUT SHALL BE CONSIDERED
