The building is an existing 1-story barn (agricultural building) proposed for conversion to a Class 1 structure for use as a sign printing shop. The building has approximately 1,944 square feet in floor area. The building is classified as Type VB Construction and will be evaluated as F-1 Occupancy. 2. The proposed conversion of a portion of the building to F-1 Occupancy will be classified as a “change of occupancy” per Rule 4, Section 11(b), GAR. 3. Rule 4, Section 11(b), GAR, permits existing structures undergoing a change in occupancy to comply with either; • The rules for new construction for the proposed new use, or • Sec. 3412, IBC, “Compliance Alternatives” 4. Sec. 3412, IBC will be used as the benchmark method of evaluating existing building compliance for the proposed use of the building. 5.
