The building has approximately 1,944 square feet in floor area. The building is classified as Type VB Construction and will be evaluated as F-1 Occupancy. Code Strategy:Sec. 3412, IBC, is utilized to demonstrate compliance with 675 IAC for a change of occupancy per Rule 4, Sec. 11(b), GAR. Construction Type:Type VB Construction Allowable Area/Height: See attached calculations per Sec. 3412.6.1 and Sec. 3412.6.2 Occupant Load Factors: The calculated occupant load is 4 people based upon 500sf/person (similar to factory warehouses). [1004.1.2] Means of Egress:A single means of egress is permitted from areas with a maximum occupant load of 49 and maximum common path of travel of 75 feet. [1015.1] Doors:Sliding or overhead doors are permitted for egress based upon less than 10 occupants. [1008.1.2, Exc. 1] Panic hardware is not required for F-1 Occupancy. [1008.1.10] Automatic Sprinklers:Sprinkler system is not required; none will be provided. [903.2.4, 3412.6.17] Fire Alarm System:Fire alarm system will not be provided. [3412.6.9] Smoke Detectors:Smoke detection will not be provided. [3412.6.8] Plumbing Fixtures Chapter 34 does not require compliance with plumbing fixtures for a change to F-1 Occupancy. [3401.3] Public facilities are not required by current code. Employee restroom will be in separate building on site under same ownership as would be permitted by current code. Accessibility:The existing building is not required to be accessible. [3412.1] Section 3412.1 permits a change of occupancy without requiring full compliance with the current rules of the Commission except where compliance with such rules is specifically required in Section 3412. There are no requirements in Section 3412 for the building to be made accessible. Energy Compliance:The building is not required to comply with the energy code. [3412.1]
