Dear Joe, Carmel BZA, and Plan Commission,
This email serves as communication regarding Docket Number 19120002. I do NOT support change in the
current zoning. There are extensive reasons as to why the current zoning of low density should remain in place.
First of all, there is absolutely no need for commercial zoning in this space. Already, several businesses have
proven unsuccessful in The Bridges, already located at 116th and Springmill. To allow for zoning that would
invite more failing businesses as well as empty commercial space is absurd. With commercial zoning, our
Jackson's Grant neighborhood would see an increase in noise, traffic, security concerns, congestion, and light,
none of which are desirable.
Secondly, when we purchased our lot in Stableside, we were assured that the space to be developed along 116th
street would be low density housing. This helped in the decision making process regarding where to build a
home. Being a homeowner in the Stableside section of Jackson's Grant, my family would be more affected by
the Jackson's Grant Village than other sections of the neighborhood. With commercial development and
townhomes, it is likely that we would see a decrease in our home value.
Speaking of townhomes, I have been unable to find any data that supports a need for high density housing in the
area. With that in mind, the communal areas of the neighborhood are not equipped to handle such a large influx
of people. As it stands, the pool is so crowded on the weekends, it's nearly impossible to find a chair or a
comfortable amount of space to swim. The workout facility is also not spacious. Inviting even more people to
use these facilities seems unfortunate. They are already overcrowded.
The neighborhood of Jackson's Grant is unique in its natural beauty, charm, and character. I am hopeful that this
special place will in fact remain as intended.
Again, I do NOT support a change in the current zoning.
