HomeMy WebLinkAbout1.1 MAIN POOL - Pool Deminsion LayoutSWIMMING POOL REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS: SCOPE OF WORK: A. Provide all labor, material, tools, and equipment necessary for swimming pool, circulations pumps, pool filter syslems, chemical treatment, piping and finishes. B. Include cost and securing of all permits required by all governmental agencies and submittals to regulatory bodies, induding state and local agencies. STEEL REINFORCING: A. Pool steel reinforcement shall be the responsibility of the Pool Contractor, following plans prepared by a registered engineer or architect. QUALIN ASSURANCE: A. Pool Contractor shall pertorm all work in compliance with the requirements of the following agencies: 20081ndiana Building Code QBC) 20061ndiana Adminislralive Code (675-Article 12) 2003 Indiana A717.1 Accessibility Code QCC A117.1) 1991 Americans With Disabilities Act Architectural Guidelines (ADAAG) 2011 Indiana Swimming Pool, Spa, and Water Attractions (Third Edition) Local Health and Building Regulations OSHA POOL CONSTRUCTION: A. Construction shall be Concrete as specified by the American Concrete Institute on the floor. B. Walls shall be 304 or 316 stainless steel, 16 gauge. Back brace and backfill shictly according [o drawings and specifications. C. Final curing of concrete shall achieve a crush-strength of not less than 4,500 psi. D. The walls of the pool are to be vertical and slope no greater than eleven (11) degrees from plumb. SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING: A. The General Contractor and the Pool Contractor shall coordinate any required pipe sleeves, conduits and building wall penetrations. PIPE AND FITTING MATERIALS: A. The swimming pool filter system piping shall be design pressure Schedule 40 PVC, Rigid, Type 1 Grade 1, ANSI/ASTM D1785. Joints shall be solvenUweld socket types as recommended by the pipe manufacturer, fittings shall be PVC, normal impact Type 1, ANSIIASTM D2466, wi[h solvent-weld socke[ ends for Schedule 40 pipe. POOL SYSTEM SPECIALTIES: A. Main drain suction line shall be plumbed lo lwo (2) separale main drain grates. Drains shall fully comply with VGB anti-vorlex requirements. B. Skimmers shall be of PVC construction with two (2) 2" port threaded outlets. C. Retums shall be evenly spaced, maximum 15 feet apart, as shown on drawings and in accordance with the latest guidelines put forth by the state or local health departments. A. Flow meters shall be used in accordance with the latest guidelines put forih by ihe state or local health departments. PIPE INSTALLATION: A. Use fttings for all changes in direction, changes in size, and all branch connections. B. When possible,locate groups ofpipes parallelto each other,spaced to permit servicing of valves. C. Install flow meter in accordance with the latest guidelines put forth by the state or local health departments. D. Pipes should be hung using pipe hangers when in proximity to the pump room ceiling and under braced supports when in proximity to the pump room floor. E. Hydrostatically test the pool under 30 psi of air at least 24 hours prior to covering any piping with a maximum drop of two (2) pounds. Pressure shall remain on all lines while any covering of piping is taking place. POOL SURFACE FINISH: A. Apply epoxy paint. TILE: A. Depth Markers: No less than 4" height, permanently colored, and in con[rast to their background. Place at one foot depth-change increments. Place within 18" of edge of pool and positioned to be read while standing on the deck facing the water. "NO DIVING" and depth indicator tiles shall be in accordance with the latest codes and guidelines put forth by the state and/or local heaRh departments. See Quality Assurance section of these Specifications for latest codes and regulations. COPING: A. Coping shall meet all codes and standards of state andlor local health depariments. DECK APPLIANCES: A. Install stainless steel handrails at the pool step entry/exit as shown on drawings. B. One three (3) step stainless steel ladder shall be placed at the deep end of the pool as shown on drawings. MAINTENANCE ACCESSORIES: A. One (1) 1%" 35 foot long vacuum hose with wall adapter. B. One 18 "vacuum cleaner head. C. One (1) telescoping pole with locking nut. D. One (1) 12" algae brush. E. One (1) dip net. F. One (1) DPD test kit. SAFETY EQUIPMENT: A. One (1) 24" U.S. Coast Guard approved life buoy with a minimum 30 foot throw-line. B. One (1) solid non-adjustable pole with life hook. C. One (1) spine board with straps. D. One (1) 24-unit first aid kit with disposable gloves. SLIP-RESISTANCE: A. Decks, ramps, and similar surtaces including step treads, coping, and depih markers shall be slip-resisting. The roughness or irregularity of such surtaces shall not cause injury or provide an abrasion during normal use. DECK ELECTRICAL LIGHTING REQUIREMENTS: A. Artificial lighting shall be provide in pool area if this pool will be used during periods of darkness. B. Lighting shall be suffcient to make a six (6") inch black disc, placed on a white background clearly visible from the side of ihe pool when the disk is placed on the floor of the pool when filled with water. FENCE AND GATE: A. A minimum six foot high fence, wall, or building shall be provided around pool deck. Slats shall be a maximum of 4" apart. B. Gate: Each gate shall swing out and be self-dosing, self-latching and lockable. Latches shall be a minimum of 54" above deck floor. Release mechanism shall be on pool side of gate. C. Gates shall be four feet (4'-0") wide. FILLING OF POOL: A. Pool Contrector shall coordinate timing of fll with the General Contractor and/or Owner to assure conshuction is complete. B. Do not fill the pool until the filter system is ready to be placed in operation. INSTRUCTIONS AND TR4INING: A. Pool Contrector shall coordinate the instruction of the operation of the pool and its appliances to all interested parties on a selected normal workday. B. Provide to the Owner all manuals and written instructions on the pool appliances. CONSULTATION REQUIREMENTS: A. Architect/Pool Designer shall be immediately contac[ed in the event of a discrepancy or contradiction in drawings and specifications. B. If [he Pool Contractor encounters unexpected conditions, such as rock ledges, trash fill, or major ground water conditions, the Architect shall be immediately consulted. C. If the Pool Contractor has code questions or needs clarificatioq the Architect shall be immediately consulted. D.
