PLEASE NOTE: Installation of building sewer shall be per the specifcations of the TriCo Regional Sewer Utility (see
reverse) and any conditions noted below. Ali installations shall be inspected by TnCo personnel dunng "open trench"
phase and hefore backflling with stone to hveNe inches above the pipe. NO footlng or foundation dreins, or other
sources of ground or stormwater, shall be permitted to en[er TriCo's sanitary sewer system. TdCo will assume no
liability for drains which are below the grade Ievei o( the nearest downsVeam manhole nor for laterals which are
e#ended beneath driveways or sidewalks. The permit holder (pmperty owner, developer or builder) will be
responsi6le for damages to TriCo's sewer sys[em. This indudes damages to manholes, castings, manhole lids and
the like; caused by constmction activiry on the building site which is the subject of this pertnit.
Inspections by TriCo are MAN�ATORY and shall be arranged by contacting TnCo's offce at 844-9200 24 hours in
advance. All new wnstmction will be placed on billing Mro months after wnnection has been made or when water is
connected, whichever comes frst.

SUMMARY OF LATERAL INSTALLATION REqUIREMENTS
1. Only one building may cnnnect to the sewer main per lateral unless otherwise app�oved by TriCo.
2 Foundation drains, sump drains, downspouLs antl other stortn water dreins shall never be connected to the sanitary sewer.
Site dewatering systems shall never be tlischargetl to the sanitary sewer_
3. The exisGng sewer line from �he bulltling to the septic tank may anly be reused if it is la�atetl under a building addilion, palio,
porch or paved dnveway, and �he line passes an air test that is observed by TriCo. Con[act TnCo for more information about
air testing requirements. The property owner is responsible for lesfing wsts.
4. TnCa shall inspeM all new laterels or lateral repairs in their entirety. Final connection to the sanitary sewer must be observetl
by Trico. The property owner or contractor must notify TriCo prior to bac�lling. Inspections must be scheduled at least 24
hours in ativance. If an inspec6on fails antl subsequent inspections are requireQ or if the wnVactor is not on site for the
schedWed inspectlon, a 310� fee will be assessed and must be paitl pnar to scheduling the reinspection.
5. Septic system contents or efFluent shall never be discharged to the sanitary sewer. Be advlsed that your county health
tlepartment regulates septic systems. Upon connec�ion �o sanitary sewer, a sepHc tank must rypically be abandonetl,
pumped cleaq and flled completelywith earthen material. Contact your county health department for more informa[ion on
seplic system and abandonment requirements, antl to notify the depariment of any abandonment.
6. The following matenals are acceptable for use in grovity sewer lateral installation or repair:
WC pipe: SOR 35 or SOR 26, ASTM D3034, 6" diameter
PVC pipe, pressure ratetl_ S�R 21, ASTM D2241, 6" diameter
PVC restrained joint pipe for directional dnlling: CertaFlo Greentine SDR 21, ASTM D2241, 6" diameter
All gasketed joints shall meet ASTM D3212
All fttings shall be SDR26 or better
DUMile imn mechanical joint fittings with pmper hardware
SDR 2fi gasketed repair sleeves or Intliana Seal shear guartl
Femco and similar flezible couplings are only acceptable in certain circumstances antl shall no[ be usetl without
pnor approval from TriCo
Cleanouts: 6° threadetl PVC raps
Bedding: Use #8 crushetl stone ar hacNretl face aggregate
The following materials are aueptabie for use in low-pressure sewer lateral installation or repair:

7. Por grdvity and low-pressure systems, ihe line Ieaving the builtling shall not exceed 3' in length before a deanout must be
added antl ihe line is hansitionetl to 6" dlameter SOR 35 PVC pipe. Glued joints are not allowed after 3'. No additional glued
fttings are allowed behveen the builtling and the trdnsitioNcleanout For all grevity lines, deanouts shall not be spaced more
than 700' apart between the building antl the sewer maia See TnCo's sfantlard drawings for more information on cleanout
installation.
8. Bedding matenal shall be placed hom at least 6 inches below to 12 inches above the pipe surtace. The trench shall be a
minimum of 18" wide with at least fi" of dearance an both sitles of the pipe. Material shall be placed over lhe pipe and tracer
wire after inspection. Soft, unstable ar unsuitable matenal fauntl below antl near the lateral, inclutling any (II or foundation
backfll material, must be removed antl replacetl with #8 stone. The cantractor is solety responsible for establishing stable
pipe bedding canditions.
3. #70-AWG solid copper trecer wire shall be laid on top of and run ihe entire lengifi of ihe lateral. All splicing of tracer wire
shall use 3M splice kit model OBR/V-6, Kinq Innovatian Dryconn Oirect Bury Wg Aqua catalog #90220, or TriCo approved
70. Laterals shall be installed at least 20' fmm water weils unless PVC pressure gratle pipe ls used. Any proposetl installation
requinng pressure pipe shall be reviewed by TnCo pnor to installation. Where a iransition is matle between SDR 35 pipe antl
pressure gratle SDR 21 pipe, a ductiie iron gasketed mechanical coupiings must be used.

the property �ine. Where the Iaterai runs in close proximity to ihe property line [he pmperty camers must be acwratety
staketl by a pmfessional land surveyor pnor to inspection.
12 Laterals running paallel to a building or stmcNre shali be at least 36" from ihe face of a crawl space or slab on grade
foundation antl 60" fmm the face ot a basement fountlatlon wall. Spacing requirements also apply with respect to ihe
ancillary structure's fountlation depth. Ancillary structures (e g. window wells) and other utilities shall not be placetl over or
nearthe lateral. TnCo may adjust requiremenis where fuWre access to Ihe lateral may be obstmcted by other utilitfes. The
wntractor should call ta discuss further if he/she believes ihis wuld be an issue.
13. All infrastmcW re connected to TnCo's sewer system may be testetl, inspecteQ or televised at TriCo's discretioq and must
remain accessible and propetly maintained.

• Downspouts are not connected to [he sanitary sewer
• The sump pump is nol connected to the sanitary sewer
• Geanout caps are in place and watertight
• No yard dralns are conneded [o the sanitary sewer
• There are no sinkholes or other indications that the sewer la[eral is leaking
• 5 Ton or greater HVAC units do not dishcarge condenstion to the sanitary sewer.
• If deficiencies are found, the property owner will he notified and must make corrections immediately. The property
owner will need to schedule a follow up inspection. �f a certifcate of compliance is not issued within 30 days of the
change in ownership, a sewer surchar/ge o�fS�1�per month will be assessed and added [o the sewer bill.
