While we are aware that the property will eventually be developed, I would like to stress my concerns about this project. My husband and I are both in our 50s. We live in the Smokey Ridge subdivision. We both work full time and have several kids who still live at home and drive vehicles. The thought that the amount of homes currently on the table to be built will be okay due to the property being for 50 and older is ludicrous. Most people in our age demographic still work. Most people in their 60s still work. The amount of added traffic from this proposal, would create an even worse nightmare in one of the worst traffic problems in Carmel. The fact that the roundabout is already above capacity (stop light was added and doesn't help much) should be reason enough to prevent such an unreasonable proposal. Additionally, the style of the homes being proposed are not of equal quality with the area. Just because people wish to downsize, doesn't mean they also wish to sacrifice quality. This section of Carmel is older but most of these homes are custom builds. They were built to last with quality materials and each home has a unique look and style. What they are proposing is cookie cutter with very little to distinguish one from another. Please reconsider allowing this proposal to move forward with the style and over congestion they have requested. It is vital to the homes already surrounding this property to at least build the same quality with less density to continue the level of living the residents currently have.
