Dear Mr. Shinaver:
At the virtual meeting held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 the Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals took the following action
regarding the Use Variance (UV) and Development Standards Variance (V) requests filed by you for the property
located at 155 W. Carmel Drive:
APPROVED: Extra Space Storage.
• Docket No. 20010016 UV: Prohibited Use in Overlay Zone granted.
• Docket No. 20010017 V: Landscaping & Parking Standards - No east bufferyard granted.
• Docket No. PZ -2020-00018 V: Construction Materials - brick/stone/concrete required, metal panel as
primary material granted.
Please be advised that per Article 9.15 of the Unified Development Ordinance, the aforementioned Development
Standards Variance approvals are valid for three (3) years and also per Article 9.15 of the Unified Development
Ordinance, the aforementioned Use Variance approvals are valid for three (3) years. By that time, either continuous
construction of the improvements must be underway, or a written request for a one-time, six-month extension of the
approval must have been received and approval granted by this Department. The expiration date of the approval is
May 26, 2023.
