PZ-2020-0038 DP/ADLS: KinderCare Learning Center – US 421. This letter is written to include and articulate how this building design complies with Carmel’s building themes. Per US 421, in order to promote visual consistency along Michigan Road certain design elements need to be incorporated that are complementary to Federal, Georgian, Italianate, or Greek Revival. This building specifically reflects the Georgian style. The elements that are utilized, which comply with the architectural style requirements in C.02, within this KinderCare building design is as follows: - Red Brick is the primary exterior wall material - Split Face Block for foundation up to 1’-8” above grade - Cast Stone is used for trim elements - The overall building does not include long, uninterrupted walls - The roof is a low-pitched gable/hip combination - Symmetrical dormers are incorporated within roof - The building footprint and roof scape is centrally symmetrical - Corner quoins are detailed within the brick - Double-hung sash windows with brick headers above - The entrance reflects an arched top with brick patterning These are just a few of the key design elements that meet the design criteri a as outlined in US 421.
