Dear Mr. Shestak,
I am writing to voice my opposition to the gas station at 131st and Towne - Docket No. PZ-2020-00093-96 V.
I am a resident of the Village of West Clay and I do not support a gas station in this location.
My primary concerns include:
- Environmental and health concerns such as potential oil tank leaks, air pollution, air quality, and exposure to benzene, a
known carcinogen that is also linked to childhood leukemia when exposed within a close proximity to service stations. Two
high risk populations will be exposed daily - at Primrose, a school for young children and at the Stratford, a senior living
community.
- Safety concerns such as increased traffic that impairs safety for pedestrians and bicyclists in an area that is currently family
friendly. The proposed location is one heavily frequented by children walking or biking to the neighborhood pool, tennis court,
and basketball court.
- The desirability and quality of life in the surrounding neighborhood will be greatly impacted and will most likely educe the
value of homes in the immediate area.
I urge you not to move forward with the gas station in our neighborhood; from recent discussions with others in the Village
of West Clay and surrounding neighborhoods, I know this view is shared by many.
Respectfully,
Jennifer Rastegar
Village of West Clay
