Dear Joe Shestak,
I am writing you to oppose the irresponsible plan to build two exists at Saddle Creek for the proposed high density, low
price residential community. We, as Saddle Creek resident, benefit nothing from these two exists. Instead, this will
dramatically increase the safety hazard, decrease our home values, cause the unauthorized use of Saddle Creek’s
amenities, reduce green space, and damage the environment. We are paying huge price for other people’s convenience.
This high density, low price community is significantly different from other newly developed Carmel communities and
should be redesigned.
We notice that there are many long straight roads in this new community, especially for the proposed exist at Beaument
Boulevard. People tend to drive faster on straight roads. There is NO ANY LONG STRAIGHT ROAD in Saddle Creek, and
speed bumps and stop signs can NEVER replace curved roads. It is a high density community and many people will take
these two exists. This will SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASE the traffic hazard.
We, as Carmel resident, are proud of our low crime rate. This is partially due to higher standards of our community. The
proposed high density, low price community with almost no amenities will DRAMATICALLY INCREASE the risk of crime
and MAKE IT DISTINCT from all other Carmel communities, including Saddle Creek.
Saddle Creek is famous for its community pool, tennis and basket courts, multiple playgrounds, large green spaces, and
long walking trails. The proposed community has almost NONE of them. As most of our amenities are free to access, with
these two exists, residents from the proposed community can use them freely, and Saddle Creek residents are PAYING
for them!
A large green space will be converted to paved road for the convenience of residents of the proposed community while we
LOOSE a big playground for kids. And overflow of waters between ponds will be blocked and this will damage the
environment. Bad environment is a LOSE for everyone.
All of these will significantly decrease our home values. City of Carmel will also lose revenues due to lowered property tax.
For residents of Saddle Creek, people of Carmel, we urge you to plan carefully and stop building those two exists in
Saddle Creek and redesign the proposed community.
Best Regards,
Dongbing Lai
