Dear Joe,
I am a resident of the Village of West Clay in Carmel and my family would like to let the city know that we oppose the
variances that are being considered in this matter. Specifically our two largest concerns are moving the pumps and
parking from behind the building to the front of the building, and reducing the amount of space required for cars to wait
in line. We are very concerned that this produces a big health and safety hazard that could impact the traffic and safety
of biking and walking pedestrians. As you may know this location is very close to some village amenities (tennis courts,
swimming pool and slightly farther away a baseball field and basketball court). As you can imagine, these amenities
produce a lot of pedestrian traffic in that area and also a lot of pedestrian traffic crossing Towne Rd. from other sections
of the Village, especially children. Our family itself, including two school-aged children, bike in that area crossing Towne
Road and visit those amenities frequently. The approval of these variances concerns us greatly for the safety of ours and
the greater neighborhood’s children.
We formally request that the City please deny these variances.
Thank you,
Robyn Glushik
