Hi Joe,
I am a resident of the Village of West Clay. I inadvertently sent this sample letter regarding the gas station at 131st and
Towne Rd. I would not normally send a sample, such as this. However, I clicked at the wrong spot while reading it.
*The fact is that the content of this sample is absolutely accurate. I agree with each point listed. We were told via email
today (from the VWC) that a gas station was always in the plan for the Village. My position is what was considered 20
years ago may need to be reconsidered today. The exposure to the harmful vapors is especially disturbing.
I am opposed to the proposed variances requested by Brenwick on behalf of Family Express Corp. The variances
specifically supporting the stacking of cars are of great concern as the land and Harleston Street does not provide
enough room for cars coming into the gas station to fuel. As a result, this will back up onto Towne Rd. and create a
major safety concern and increase in traffic and with the number of children and families that walk, bike, and run in the
area or visit the nearby neighborhood amenities, it will no longer be safe.
Second, the variance requesting to move the gas pumps from behind the building to the front, which would move the
build-to-line of the convenience store, further pushes it back to the cottages of Stratford, imposing further health risk to
the residents who live there in exposure to the vents that release benzene and methane vapors and is not compliant
with the architectural guidelines of the Village of West Clay.
Thank you for your time and consideration of our concerns,
Jeanne Myers
