Dear Joe,
I am a resident of Carmel and have lived in the area of The Village of West Clay, in the Laurel Lakes Subdivision for the
past 23 years.
I am truly shocked to hear that a Gas Station would be built in my neighborhood where it would be a toxic treat to the
health of individuals.... young and old. Is our health not important? Does the bottom line of money and greed supersede
our health?
I feel strongly about this issue and I'm writing in opposition to the proposed variances requested by Brenwick on behalf
of Family Express Corp.
The variance requesting to move the gas pumps from behind the building to the front, which would move the build-to-
line of the convenience store, further pushes it back to the cottages of Stratford, imposing further health risk to the
residents who live there in exposure to the vents that release benzene and methane vapors and is not compliant with
the architectural guidelines of the Village of West Clay.
Safety should also be a concern. The back up and additional traffic onto Towne Rd. would create a major safety concern
for the number of children and families that walk, bike, and run in the area or visit the nearby neighborhood amenities,
it will no longer be safe.
Please listen to the people and to our concerns. I look forward to your response and support.
Thank you.
