1. Per Section 907.2.1 of the Indiana Fire Code a Fire Alarm system shall be provided for th is occupancy and
shall comply with the fire alarm system requirements as specified by Chapter 9 of the Indiana Fire Code.
The fire alarm system requirement is not addressed in the submitted plans. Provide details to the Car mel
Fire Department on how the fire alarm system is being addressed. Is the existing system located in the
building being upgraded to comply with the Indiana Fire Code or is a new code compliant fire alarm
system being installed? A full fire alarm system operation test must be completed prior to the final
inspection and CFD Fire Marshal’s office personnel will witness the system function at the time of the final
inspection.
Response: Existing Fire Alarm System is to remain with scope of work to include any upgrades to
comply with IFC. Monitoring system is currently being reconnected and tested.
2. Emergency lighting and exit signage shall be provided to comply with sections 1006 and 1011 of the
Indiana Fire Code. All emergency lighting systems and exit signs shall be fully functional and repaired prior
to the CFD Final Inspections. A Full emergency lighting and exit sign test must be demonstrated to CFD
Fire Marshal’s office personnel at the time of the Final Inspection.
Response: All existing exit signs and lights are to remain. In areas where new walls are proposed,
additional signs have been indicated on sheet G002.
3. All required exit doors shall not be provided with a lock or latch unless it is panic or fire exit hardware as
required by Section 1008.1.10 of the Indiana Fire Code. Provide confirmation to CFD that this section of
the IFC is being complied with.
Response: All egress doors serving an occupant count of more than 50 persons are to have panic
function hardware. Existing panic hardware to remain – new doors to comply with Section
1008.1.10.
4. The fire sprinkler system shall be inspected and in compliance with NFPA 25 as adopted. Any changes
required to the fire sprinkler system as a result of this project shall be made in compliance with NFPA 13
as adopted.
Response: Existing sprinkler system to remain. System to be tested to identify any areas that are
not in compliance and bring up to code as necessary.
