Hi Joe,
My husband and I live in The Village of West Clay and have for five and a half years. We lived for almost thirty years prior
just two miles from the proposed gas station. Never once did I wish we had a gas station closer than those on Michigan
Rd., Meijer, Market District, or Main Street.
I am writing in opposition to the proposed variances requested by Brenwick on behalf of Family Express Corp. The
variances specifically asking to reduce the stacking of cars, will still not be enough space and are of great concern as the
land and Harleston Street will not provide enough room for cars coming into the gas station to fuel. As a result, this will
back up onto Towne Rd. and create a major safety concern and increase in traffic and with the number of kids and
families that walk, bike, and run in the area or visit the nearby neighborhood pool and amenities, it will no longer be
safe.
Second, the variance requesting to move the gas pumps & canopy from the rear of the building to the front, which
would move the build-to-line of the convenience store, further pushes it back to the cottages of Stratford, imposing
further health risk to the residents who live there in exposure to the vents that release benzene and methane vapors
and is not compliant with the architectural guidelines of the Village of West Clay. As all businesses have parking in the
rear and street parking in the front and would be of concern for all the residents that would see the pumps and cars
going to fuel, which would further negatively impact the future sale of homes.
Thank you for your time and consideration of our concerns,
Lois Graham
