PLEASE NOTE: Installation of building sewer shall be per the specifications of the TriCo Regional Sewer Utility (see
reverse) and any conditions noted below. All installations shall be inspected by TriCo personnel during "open trench"
phase and before backfilling with stone to twelve inches above the pipe. NO footing or foundation drains, or other
sources of ground or stormwater, shall be permitted to enter TriCo's sanitary sewer system. TriCo will assume no
liability for drains which are below the grade level of the nearest downstream manhole nor for laterals which are
extended beneath driveways or sidewalks. The permit holder (property owner, developer or builder) will be
responsible for damages to TriCo's sewer system. This includes damages to manholes, castings, manhole lids and
the like; caused by construction activity on the building site which is the subject of this permit.
Inspections by TriCo are MANDATORY and shall be arranged by contacting TriCo's office at 844-9200 24 hours in
advance. All new construction will be placed on billing two months after connection has been made or when water is
connected, whichever comes first.

SUMMARY OF LATERAL INS�TALLATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Only one building may connect to the sewer main per lateral unless otherwise approved by TriCo.
2. Foundation drains, sump drains, downspouts and other storrn water drains shall never be connected to the sanitary sewer.
Site dewatering systems shall never be discharged to the sanitary sewer.
3. The existing sewer line from the building to the septic tank n�ay only be reused if it is located under a building addition, patio,
porch or paved driveway, and the line passes an air test thai is observed by TriCo. Contact TriCo for more information about
air testing requirements. The property owner is responsible ror testing costs.
4. TriCo shall inspect all new laterals or lateral repairs in their � ntirety. Final connection to the sanitary sewer must be observed
by Trico. The property owner or contractor must notify TriCc prior to backfilling. Inspections must be scheduled at least 24
hours in advance. If an inspection fails and subsequent insp :ctions are required, or if the contractor is not on site for the
scheduled inspection, a$100 fee will be assessed and must be paid prior to scheduling the reinspection.
5. Septic system contents or effluent shall never be dischargec° to the sanitary sewer. Be advised that your county health
department regulates septic systems. Upon connection to s; nitary sewer, a septic tank must typicaliy be abandoned,
pumped clean, and filled completely with earthen materiaL C ontact your county health department for more information on
septic system and abandonment requirements, and to notify the department of any abandonment.
6. The following materials are acceptable for use in graviry sev��er lateral installation or repair:
PVC pipe: SDR 35 or SDR 26, ASTM D3034, 6" diameter
PVC pipe, pressure rated: SDR 21, ASTM D2241, 6" diarr��ter
PVC restrained joint pipe for directional drilling: Certaflo Greenline SDR 21, ASTM D2241, 6" diameter
All gasketed joints shall meet ASTM D3212
Ali fittings shall be SDR26 or better
Ductile iron mechanical joint fittings with proper hardware
SDR 26 gasketed repair sleeves or Indiana Seai shear gu; ird
Femco and similar flexible couplings are only acceptable �n certain circumstances and shall not be used without
prior approval from TriCo

7. For gravity and low-pressure systems, the line leaving the b iilding shall not exceed 3' in length before a cleanout must be
added and the line is transitioned to 6" diameter SDR 35 PV � pipe. Glued joints are not allowed after 3'. No additional glued
fittings are allowed between the building and the transitioNc'eanout. For all gravity lines, cleanouts shall not be spaced more
than 100' apart between the building and the sewer main. S� �e TriCo's standard drawings for more information on cleanout
installation.
8. Bedding material shall be placed from at least 6 inches belo,nr to 12 inches above the pipe surface. The trench shall be a
minimum of 18" wide with at least 6" of clearance on both s� ies of the pipe. Material shall be placed over the pipe and tracer
wire after inspection. Soft, unstable or unsuitable material fc�und below and near the lateral, including any fill or foundation
backfill material, must be removed and replaced with #8 sto�ie. The contractor is solely responsible for establishing stable
pipe bedding conditions.
9. #10-AWG solid copper tracer wire shall be laid on top of anc! run the entire length of the laterai. All splicing of tracer wire
shall use 3M splice kit model DBR/Y-6, King Innovation Dry�:onn Direct Bury Lug Aqua catalog #90220, or TriCo approved
10. Laterals shall be installed at least 20' from water wells unle�� s PVC pressure grade pipe is used. Any proposed installation
requiring pressure pipe shall be reviewed by TriCo prior to i� stallation. Where a transition is made between SDR 35 pipe and
pressure grade SDR 21 pipe, a ductile iron gasketed mecha iical couplings must be used.
11. Laterais less than 5' deep shall be at least 24" from the pro�:erty line. Laterais more than 5' deep shall be at least 36" from
the property line. Where the lateral runs in close proximity t<� the property line the property corners must be accurately
staked by a professional land surveyor prior to inspection.
12. Laterals running parallel to a building or structure shall be a least 36" from the face of a crawl space or slab on grade
foundation and 60" from the face of a basement foundation vall. Spacing requirements also apply with respect to the
ancillary structure's foundation depth. Anciliary structures (E g, window weiis) and other utilities shall not be placed over or
near the lateral. TriCo may adjust requirements where futur � access to the laterai may be obstructed by other utilities. The
contractor should call to discuss further if he/she believes tF:;s could be an issue.
13. All infrastructure connected to TriCo's sewer system may bc tested, inspected, or televised at TriCo's discretion, and must
remain accessible and properly maintained.

Program Specifications
■ This program requires prior to the sale/occupance of a property that the property owner/builder notify TriCo and
schedule an inspection. The inspection will verify that:
■ Downspouts are not connected to the sanitary sewer
■ The sump pump is not connected to the sanitary sewer
' Cleanout caps are in place and watertight
■ No yard drains are connected to the sanitary sewer
■ There are no sinkholes or other indications that the sewer lateral is leaking
■ 5 Ton or greater HVAC units do not dishcarge condenstion to the sanitary sewer.
■ If deficiencies are found, the property owner will be notified and must make corrections immediately. The property
owner will need to schedule a follow up inspection. If a certificate of compliance is not issued within 30 days of the
change in ownership, a sewer surch�rge of $20 per month will be assessed and dded to the sewer bill.
