GENERAL DEMOLITION NOTES
1. ALL DASHED WALLS OR MATERIALS WHEN INDICATED ON A
DEMOLITION PLAN, OR DESIGNATED BY NOTE, SHALL BE
REMOVED. NEW WALLS ARE GENERALLY DESIGNATED BY BEING
SHADED.
2 REMOVAL OF A PARTICULAR ITEM, IE: WALLS, DOORS, CEILINGS,
WINDOWS, ETC. SHALL INCLUDE ALL RELATED ITEMS AND
MATERIALS; ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL, PLUMBING, AND
HARDWARE. DEMOLITION SHALL ALSO INCLUDE SHORING OF
ANY WALLS, CEILINGS, OR OTHER CONSTRUCTION AS
NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN INTEGRITY. ANY HOLES, CRACKS, OR
OTHER DAMAGE CAUSED TO EXISTING CONSTRUCTION TO
REMAIN, SHALL BE REPAIRED TO ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH
MATERIALS TO MATCH EXISTING. ALL PARTIALLY REMOVED
PLUMBING LINES AND CONDUITS SHALL BE CAPPED. CARE
SHOULD BE TAKEN NOT TO REMOVE MORE THAN IS NECESSARY
(OR SPECIFIED) TO ACCOMMODATE NEW CONSTRUCTION. ANY
SURFACES OR FINISHES DISTURBED BY REMOVAL OF
MATERIALS ARE TO BE REPAIRED AND RETURNED TO ITS
PRECONSTRUCTION APPEARANCE.
3. REMOVAL OF A PARTICULAR SYSTEM SHALL CONSTITUTE
REMOVAL OF ALL RELATED PARTS AND SUPPORTS (UNLESS

DEMOLITION PLAN NOTES
DF: SELECTIVE FLOORING DEMOLITION
DF-01 CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE EXISTING CARPET,
CARPET PAD, AND ASSOCIATED CARPET (AND / OR VINYL)
BASE IN ITS ENTIRETY FOR THE FULL EXTENT OF THE
AREAS INDICATED ON DRAWINGS. REMOVE ALL
ASSOCIATED NAILING STRIPS, MASTIC, AND NAILS IN
THEIR ENTIRETY DOWN TO CONCRETE / MASONRY AND
GYP. BRD. SUBSTRATES. FLASH PATCH AND REPAIR
SUBSTRATE WHERE DAMAGED, OR AS DAMAGED BY
REMOVAL OF CARPETING SYSTEM & BASE TO PROVIDE
FLUSH, SMOOTH SURFACE FOR RECEIPT OF NEW
FLOORING MATERIAL & BASE. CONTRACTOR SHALL
COVER AND PROTECT ALL EXISTING CARPETING TO
REMAIN WITH DURABLE MASONITE PANELS (OR EQ.) AND
WATERPROOF/DUSTPROOFCOVERINGFORTHE
DURATION OF THE RENOVATION WORK.
DF-02 CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE ALL CARPET TO CARPET,
AND CARPET TO TILE TRANSITION STRIPS IN THEIR
ENTIRETY IF WITHIN AREAS OF FLOORING TO BE
REMOVED. REMOVE ALL ASSOCIATED MASTIC AND
ANCHORS IN THEIR ENTIRETY DOWN TO SUBSTRATE.
FLASH PATCH AND REPAIR SUBSTRATE WHERE
DAMAGED, OR AS DAMAGED BY REMOVAL OF MATERIALS.
DW: SELECTIVE DEMOLITION OF WALLS, PARTITIONS AND
BULKHEADS
DW-05 (BALLROOM) AT EXISTING FOLDING PARTITIONS: REMOVE
EXISTING WALLCOVERING AND WALLCOVERING MASTIC
IN ITS ENTIRETY FOR FULL HEIGHT OF FOLDING
PARTITIONS. REMOVE FINISH MATERIAL AND MASTIC
DOWN TO EXISTING SUBSTRATE . REPAIR ANY DAMAGE.
CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE FOR 100 % PARTITION
PREP FOR NEW WALLCOVERING IN BASE BID.
DW-07 TYPICAL @ ALL AREAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION: REMOVE
EXISTING WALLCOVERING AND WALLCOVERING MASTIC
IN ITS ENTIRETY FOR FULL HEIGHT OF WALLS, TO FULL
EXTENT OF AREAS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS.
REMOVE FINISH MATERIAL AND MASTIC DOWN TO
EXISTING SUBSTRATE. REMOVE ALL REMOVABLE WALL
MOUNTED EQUIPMENT (EQUIPMENT INCLUDES BUT IS
NOT LIMITED TO: SWITCH PLATES, COVER PLATES,
ALARM SYSTEMS, EMERGENCY LIGHTS, FIRE PULLS,
PHONES, THERMOSTATS, ETC.) SALVAGE AND STORE
QUAD OUTLET COVERS, MULTI-SWITCH COVERS, AND
PHONE JACK COVERS FOR RE-INSTALLATION IN SAME
LOCATIONS. SALVAGE AND STORE ALL EQUIPMENT FOR
RE-INSTALLATION IN SAME LOCATIONS (UNLESS
OTHERWISE NOTED ON DRAWINGS). PATCH, SPACKLE &
REPAIR GYP. BRD. / PLASTER FINISH (WITH COMPATIBLE
MATERIAL) WHERE DAMAGED, OR AS DAMAGED BY
REMOVAL OF WALLCOVERING OR ANY OTHER WALL
MOUNTED ELEMENTS (ON WALLS TO REMAIN).

DW-08 REMOVE ALL EXISTING OUTSIDE CORNER, WALL
MOUNTED, VINYL AND / OR WOOD CORNER GUARDS AND
CORNER GUARD ATTACHMENTS I MASTIC IN ITS
ENTIRETY. PATCH AND REPAIR ALL GYP. BRD.
SUBSTRATES DAMAGED BY REMOVALS(ON WALLSTO
REMAIN).
DW-11 CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE EXISTING APPLIED WOOD
TRIMS WHERE INDICATED ON DRAWINGS, IN THEIR
ENTIRETY. PATCH & REPAIR SUBSTRATE WHERE
DAMAGED, OR AS DAMAGED BY REMOVAL TO PROVIDE
FLUSH, SMOOTH SURFACE FOR RECEIPT OF NEW WALL
FINISH.
DD: DEMOLITION OF DOORS / WINDOWS AND ASSOCIATED
HARDWARE
DD-01 CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT EXISTING (TO REMAIN)
DOORS,DOOR THRESHOLDS AND HOLLOW METAL
FRAMES FROM DAMAGE AND DEBRIS DURING THE
CONSTRUCTION PROCESS.
DM: SELECTIVE M.E.P. RELATED DEMOLITION
DM-O6 ALLASSOCIATEDDUCTWORKANDMECHANICAL
CONTROLS AND CONNECTIONS SHALL REMAIN "AS IS"
UNLESS OTHERWISE INSTRUCTED IN M.E.P. DRAWINGS.
EXISTING LINEAR DIFFUSERS SHALL BE REWORKED INTO
NEW CEILING SYSTEM / TYPE AS SHOWN ON

DM-07 CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE ALL COVER PLATES,
SCREWS, SWITCHES AND OUTLETS FROM ALL EXISTING
SWITCHES, OUTLETS AND OTHER DEVICES. PROTECT
WHITE OUTLETS & J-BOXES FROM DUST & DEBRIS
DURING CONSTRUCTION.
DL: DEMOLITION OF LIGHTING FIXTURES / ELECTRICAL
DL-02 REMOVE EXISTING SURFACE MOUNTED DECORATIVE
WALL SCONCE LIGHT FIXTURE ONLY. SALVAGE AND
RETURN FIXTURES TO PROPERTY. JUNCTION BOXES
AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS SHALL REMAIN IN
PLACE, FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW WALL SCONCE
FIXTURE. COVER AND PROTECT FOR THE DURATION OF
CONSTRUCTION WORK.
PR: COVER & PROTECT
PR-05 COVER AND PROTECT EXISTING MILLWORK AND
COUNTERTOPS TO REMAIN.
PR-O6 PROTECT AND KEEP CLEAN AND UNDAMAGED THE
EXISTING CROWN MOLDING AND OTHER WOOD TRIMS TO
REMAIN, WHERE INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS. TAKE
CARE WHEN INSTALLING NEW VINYL WALLCOVERING
AND/OR NEW WALL PAINT NOT TO GET ANY NEW
FINISHES ON THE EXISTING CROWN MOLDING AND WOOD
TRIMS.
PR-08 PROTECT AND KEEP CLEAN AND UNDAMAGED THE
EXISTING WOOD BASE TO REMAIN. TAKE CARE WHEN
INSTALLING NEW VINYL WALLCOVERING AND/OR NEW
WALL PAINT NOT TO GET ANY NEW FINISHES ON THE
EXISTING WOOD BASE.
