GENERAL DEMOLITION NOTES
1. ALL DASHED WALLS OR MATERIALS WHEN INDICATED ON A
DEMOLITION PLAN, OR DESIGNATED BY NOTE, SHALL BE
REMOVED. NEW WALLS ARE GENERALLY DESIGNATED BY BEING
SHADED.
2. REMOVAL OF A PARTICULAR ITEM, IE: WALLS, DOORS, CEILINGS,
WINDOWS, ETC. SHALL INCLUDE ALL RELATED ITEMS AND
MATERIALS; ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL, PLUMBING, AND
HARDWARE. DEMOLITION SHALL ALSO INCLUDE SHORING OF
ANY WALLS, CEILINGS, OR OTHER CONSTRUCTION AS
NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN INTEGRITY. ANY HOLES, CRACKS, OR
OTHER DAMAGE CAUSED TO EXISTING CONSTRUCTION TO
REMAIN, SHALL BE REPAIRED TO ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH
MATERIALS TO MATCH EXISTING. ALL PARTIALLY REMOVED
PLUMBING LINES AND CONDUITS SHALL BE CAPPED. CARE
SHOULD BE TAKEN NOT TO REMOVE MORE THAN IS NECESSARY
(OR SPECIFIED) TO ACCOMMODATE NEW CONSTRUCTION. ANY
SURFACES OR FINISHES DISTURBED BY REMOVAL OF
MATERIALS ARE TO BE REPAIRED AND RETURNED TO ITS
PRE-CONSTRUCTION APPEARANCE.
3. REMOVAL OF A PARTICULAR SYSTEM SHALL CONSTITUTE
REMOVAL OF ALL RELATED PARTS AND SUPPORTS (UNLESS
OTHERWISE NOTED) IE: REMOVAL OF CEILINGS SHALL INCLUDE
RELATED WIRES, ANGLES, TRIMS, BRACING, ETC. REMOVAL OF
WALL FRAMING SHALL INCLUDE ALL TRACKS, ANCHORS,
BRACING, ATTACHMENTS, ADHESIVES.
4. ANY MATERIAL, APPLIANCE, APPARATUS, OR OTHER ITEMS
NOTED AS "SALVAGE FOR RE-USE BY OWNER" SHALL
CONSTITUTE ITEMS TO BE REMOVED, SAVED, AND DELIVERED
OR STORED FOR OWNERS USE. THESE ITEMS SHALL AT ALL
TIMES REMAIN THE PROPERTY OF THE OWNER, AND ALL
REMOVAL AND STORAGE OF SUCH ITEMS SHALL BE
COORDINATED DIRECTLY WITH THE OWNER PRIOR TO REMOVAL

DW: SELECTIVE DEMOLITION OF WALLS, PARTITIONS AND
BULKHEADS
DW-07 TYPICAL @ ALL AREAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION: REMOVE
EXISTING WALLCOVERING AND WALLCOVERING MASTIC
IN ITS ENTIRETY FOR FULL HEIGHT OF WALLS, TO FULL
EXTENT OF AREAS INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS.
REMOVE FINISH MATERIAL AND MASTIC DOWN TO
EXISTING SUBSTRATE. REMOVE ALL REMOVABLE WALL
MOUNTED EQUIPMENT (EQUIPMENT INCLUDES BUT IS
NOT LIMITED TO: PULLS, PHONES, THERMOSTATS, ETC.)
SALVAGE AND STORE QUAD OUTLET COVERS,
MULTI-SWITCH COVERS, AND PHONE JACK COVERS FOR
RE-INSTALLATION IN SAME LOCATIONS. SALVAGE AND
STORE ALL EQUIPMENT FOR RE-INSTALLATION IN SAME
LOCATIONS (UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED ON DRAWINGS).
PATCH, SPACKLE & REPAIR GYP. BRD. / PLASTER FINISH
(WITH COMPATIBLE MATERIAL) WHERE DAMAGED, OR AS
DAMAGED BY REMOVAL OF WALLCOVERING OR ANY
OTHER WALL MOUNTED ELEMENTS (ON WALLS TO
REMAIN). CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE FOR 100 % WALL
PREP (SKIM COAT & PRIME) IN BASE BID.
DW-OS REMOVE ALL EXISTING OUTSIDE CORNER, WALL
MOUNTED, VINYL AND I OR WOOD CORNER GUARDS AND
CORNER GUARD ATTACHMENTS / MASTIC IN ITS
ENTIRETY. PATCH AND REPAIR ALL GYP. BRD.
SUBSTRATES DAMAGED BY REMOVALS (ON WALLS TO
REMAIN).
DW-09 CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE EXISTING PORCELAIN /
CERAMIC / QUARRY WALL TILE IN ITS ENTIRETY FOR THE
FULL EXTENT OF THE AREAS SPECIFIED ON THE
DRAWINGS, OR AS REQUIRED TO COORDINATE WITH
NEW DESIGN. CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE ALL
ASSOCIATED GROUT, MASTIC, AND TILE TRIMS IN THEIR
ENTIRETY DOWN TO CONCRETE I MASONRY / GYP. BRD.
SUBSTRATE.REPLACE ALLSUBSTRATE WHERE
DAMAGED, OR AS DAMAGED BY REMOVAL OF PORCELAIN
I CERAMIC TILES TO PROVIDE FLUSH, SMOOTH SURFACE
FOR RECEIPT OF NEW WALL MATERIAL. TAKE CARE IN
REMOVAL OF SUBSTRATE SO AS NOT TO DAMAGE ANY

BY REMOVAL TO PROVIDE FLUSH, SMOOTH SURFACE
FOR RECEIPT OF NEW WALL FINISH.
DB: DEMOLITION OF BUILT-IN CASEWORK
DB-01 (PUBLIC RESTROOMS) CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE
EXISTING BATHROOM VANITY CONSTRUCTION IN ITS
ENTIRETY. REMOVAL TO INCLUDE STONE VANITY TOP,
BACKSPLASH, SWK, AND FAUCET SET, APRON, SUPPORT
STRUCTURE, ASSOCIATED PLUMBING CONNECTIONS, &
ALL ASSOCIATED UNIT ANCHORS AND HARDWARE.
EXISTING PLUMBING ROUGH-INS TO REMAIN AND BE
TEMPORALLY CAPPED. PATCH & REPAIR SUBSTRATE
WHERE DAMAGED, OR AS DAMAGED BY REMOVAL TO
PROVIDE FLUSH, SMOOTH SURFACE FOR RECEIPT OF
NEW WALL FINISH.
DD: DEMOLITION OF DOORS / WINDOWS AND ASSOCIATED
HARDWARE
DD-01 CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT EXISTING (TO REMAIN)
DOORS,DOOR THRESHOLDS AND HOLLOW METAL
FRAMES FROM DAMAGE AND DEBRIS DURING THE
CONSTRUCTION PROCESS.
DE: DEMOLITION OF FF&E / SIGNAGE / EQUIPMENT
DE-08 REMOVE EXISTING BATHROOM STALL DOOR AND
PARTITION SYSTEM, AS INDICATED ON DRAWINGS.
REMOVAL TO MCW DE ALL PARTITIONS, DOORS, HINGES,
ASSOCIATED ANCHORS, STRIKE PLATES, AND
ASSOCIATED ACCESSORIES. PATCH, SPACKLE & REPAIR
SUBSTRATES TO REMAIN (WITH COMPATIBLE MATERIAL)
WHERE DAMAGED, OR AS DAMAGED BY REMOVAL OF
PARTITION SVSTEM (ON WALLS TO REMAIN).

AND DUST DURING CONSTRUCTION UNLESS OTHERWISE
DIRECTED BY MEP OR ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS.
CONTRACTOR SHALL CLEAN AND POLISH DRAIN COVERS
UPON COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION IF THEY ARE TO
REMAIN.
DM-02 CONTRACTOR SHALL COVER AND PROTECT, OR REMOVE
IF NECESSARY, ALL EXISTING WALL MOUNTED HVAC
GRILLES / LOUVERS UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY
MEP OR ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS. SALVAGE AND
STORE ALL GRILLES ILOUVERS AND ASSOCIATED
HARDWARE, FOR RE-INSTALLATION IN SAME LOCATIONS
(UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED IN MECHANICAL
DRAWINGS). ACCESS PANELS SHALL REMAIN IN PLACE.
DM-03 CONTRACTOR SHALL COVER AND PROTECT, OR REMOVE
IF NECESSARY, ALL EXISTING SPRWKLER HEADS, FIRE
ALARMS, FIRE PULLS, SMOKE DETECTORS, EXIT SIGNS,
SPEAKERS,THERMOSTATS,EMERGENCYLIGHTS(WHEN
THEY ARE EXISTING & ARE TO REMAIN IN PLACE ).
SALVAGE, PROTECT AND STORE FOR RE-USE AND
REINSTALLATION IN SAME LOCATIONS BY CONTRACTOR
UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY MEP OR
ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS.
DM-04 (PUBLIC RESTROOMS): REMOVE EXISTING PLUMBING
FIXTURES AND BRIGHTWORK AS INDICATED ON
DRAWINGS. REMOVAL SHALL INCLUDE FIXTURES, ALL
ASSOCIATED MOUNTING PLATES AND MOUNTING
HARDWARE, AND ASSOCIATED PLUMBING CONNECTIONS.
SEE M.E.P. DRAWINGS.
DM-OS EXISTING PLUMBING FIXTURES AND BRIGHTWORK TO
REMAIN. WHERE REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW
CONSTRUCTION AND/OR FINISHES, REMOVE, SALVAGE
AND STORE FOR REINSTALLATION IN SAME LOCATIONS.
OTHERWISE, COVER AND PROTECT FOR THE DURATION
OF CONSTRUCTION.
DM-07 CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE ALL COVER PLATES,
SCREWS, SWITCHES AND OUTLETS FROM ALL EXISTING
SWITCHES, OUTLETS AND OTHER DEVICES. PROTECT
WHITE OUTLETS & J-BOXES FROM DUST & DEBRIS
DURING CONSTRUCTION.
DL DEMOLITION OF LIGHTING FIXTURES / ELECTRICAL
DL-07 REMOVE I RELOCATE EXISTWG ELECTRICAL OUTLETS I
SWITCH BOXES IN THEIR ENTIRETY. REMOVAL SHALL
WCLUDE OUTLETS, DUPLEX BOXES, AND ALL
ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS. ELECTRICAL
OUTLETS / SWITCH BOXES SHALL BE REMOVED OR
