Sizing: In accordance with the 2012 IPC section 1003.4.2.2: Garages and service stations.
Where automobiles are serviced, greased, repaired or washed or where gasoline is dispensed,
oil separators shall have a capacity of not less than 6 cubic feet for the first 100 square feet of
area to be drained, plus 1 cubic foot for each additional 100 square feet of area to be drained
into the separator.
This area is 11,200 sq.ft.
6 cu.ft + (1 cu.ft x 112) = 118 cu.ft.
118 cu.ft. x 7.48 gallons/cu.ft. = 883 gallons.
The next common separator size is 1,000 gallons.
Location: The location of the interceptor is shown on sheet P101.
