CONCRETE COVERAGE REQUIRED FOR PROTECTION.
2. INSTALL WELDED WIRE REINFORCEMENT IN MAXIMUM POSSIBLE LENGTHS, AND OFFSET END LAPS IN
BOTH DIRECTIONS. SPLICE LAPS WITH TIE WIRE.
K. CONCRETE MIXING:

04 2000: UNIT MASONRY
A. SECTION INCLUDES: CONCRETE BLOCK BRICK REINFORCEMENT AND ANCHORAGES FLASHINGS LINTELS
AND ACCESSORIES.
B. SUBMITTALS: PROVIDE SAMPLES AND PRODUCT DATA FOR MASONRY UNITS, FABRICATED WIRE
REINFORCEMENT, MORTAR, AND MASONRY ACCESSORIES.
C. MOCK-UP: CONSTRUCT A MASONRY WALL AS A MOCK-UP PANEL SIZED 8 FEET LONG BY 6 FEET HIGH. THE
MOCK-UP SHALL INCLUDE BRICK VENEER, SPECIAL BRICK PATTERNS, CUT LIMESTONE, CONCRETE
MASONRY UNITS FLASHING WEEP VENTS. JOINT TOOLING MORTAR COLORS ANCHORAGE
REINFORCEMENT SEALANTS AND BOND PATTERNS. A MAXIMUM OF THREE (3) PANELS WILL BE REQUIRED.
APPROVAL OF ACCEPTABLE SAMPLE PANELS MUST BE OBTAINED FROM THE ARCHITECT IN WRITING PRIOR
TO THE DELIVERY OF MASONRY UNITS TO THE JOBSITE FOR INSTALLATION. LOCATE THE SAMPLE PANEL
WHERE DIRECTED. THE MOCK-UP MAY REMAIN AS PART OF THE WORK.
D. DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING: DELIVER, HANDLE, AND STORE MASONRY UNITS BY MEANS THAT

REMOVE SOIL, STAINS, AND FOREIGN MATERIALS. CLEAN STONES BY THOROUGHLY
SCRUBBING STONES WITH FIBER BRUSHES FOLLOWED BY A THOROUGH DRENCHING WITH
CLEAR WATER. USE ONLY MILD CLEANING COMPOUNDS THAT CONTAIN NO CAUSTIC OR
HARSH FILLER OR ABRASIVES.
d. FERROUS METAL: WHERE STONEWORK WILL CONTACT FERROUS METAL SURFACES WHICH
WILL BE CONCEALED IN BACK-UP CONSTRUCTION (ANCHORS, SUPPORTS, STRUCTURAL
FRAMING AND SIMILAR SURFACES), APPLY A HEAVY COAT OF BITUMINOUS PAINT ON METAL
SURFACES, PRIOR TO SETTING OF STONE. DO NOT EXTEND COATING ONTO PORTIONS OF
FERROUS METAL WHICH WILL BE EXPOSED IN FINISHED WORK. DO NOT APPLY COATING TO
STAINLESS OR NOW FERROUS METALS.

4. FILL ANCHOR HOLES WITH MORTAR.
5. SUPPORT PROJECTING STONES BY PROPS OR ANCHORS UNTIL WALL ABOVE IS SET.
6. EMBED ENDS OF LUGGED SILLS IN MORTAR; LEAVE BALANCE OF JOINT OPEN UNTIL FINAL
