Re: EXEMPTION FROM STATE FILING REQUEST
Project: LA PEEP - CARMEL
Suite 109
200 South Rangeline Road
Carmel, Indiana 46032
To IDHS Plan Review:
This letter is to request an Exemption from State Filing based on 675 IAC 12-6-4 and allow direct
permitting through the City of Carmel.
The attached drawings represent a tenant remodeling project on the ground floor level of the
Indiana Design Center on Rangeline Road in Carmel, Indiana.
The tenant, LA PEEP, is a Group A-2 Occupancy (Restaurant); Type II-B Construction and
occupying 2,634 square feet. The initial tenant build-out for this space was BLUE MOON CAFÉ.
A CDR under IDHS Project number 323831 was issued on 02.16.07. Blue Moon has been in
operation since that time. The Occupant count remains the same at 175.
The new tenant LA PEEP – CARMEL wishes to operate a similar restaurant with only minor
interior remodeling consisting of partial removal of non-load-bearing walls, new and relocated
store fixtures and relocation of some light fixtures and receptacles on existing branch circuits.
The Project is of a minor scope of work and involves no structural or mechanical modifications.
Electrical modifications include only relocation of some existing light fixtures and some duplex
outlets on existing branch circuits. Four (4) new duplex outlets are to be added. No new electrical
loading will be introduced and no new circuits are necessary.
There is no change in area, occupancy or life safety paths or alarm system.
Therefore, I am requesting approval for direct filing of construction documents by the Contractor
with the Carmel Building Department for local permitting. As always, I and my staff of architects at
Pedcor Design Group will be providing construction observation during the construction work and
will report to the Owner any observed deficiencies or variations in the work as represented in the
documents submitted for permits.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.
Sincerely,
James R. Stutzman, AIA, NCARB, CSI
