Albany Ridge proposed PUD
PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERN PETITION
The owners and residents of Tallyn Ridge request that the proposed Albany Village PUD
be amended to require an additional street connection to Old 146`h street.
Without the additional street connection to old 146th street there will be a significant amount of
traffic into Tallyn Ridge from the proposed Albany Village. This new development necessitates
the creation of an additional street connection to old 146`h street in order to handle the increase
in cars travelling on the road.
The current route from the Tallyn Ridge and old 1461h intersection (Tallyn Way and old 146'h ) to
the new 146`h road takes approximately 1 minute and 45 seconds. This means that if no new
road connection is constructed from the proposed Albany Village to old 146th, then 100% of
cars leaving the proposed Albany Ridge going east will drive through the Tallyn Ridge
community. The increased traffic poses significant danger to families with children living in Tallyn
Ridge.
If this additional street connection is not built, it will present increased risk to school children as
a result of the traffic surge, especially during the morning and afternoon rush hours. This will
negatively impact the safety or our children as neighborhood students walk to and from school
buses in the morning and after school.
Additionally, this petition requesting a street connection will allow Albany Village residents to
both access old 146`h street and enter Albany Village from old 1461h without driving through the
Tallyn Ridge community.
Carmel City planning department agrees with our petition request. The City Engineer is
continuing to study our petition request and the residents of Tallyn Ridge expect his final
decision to be in concurrence.
Approximately 100 residents in Tallyn Ridge support this petition (27 homes x 2 owners per
home x approximately 2 children per residence)
The developers oppose the additional street connection. They argue that traffic going north on
Shelborne would take a shortcut through their proposed Albany Village to enter old 146th street.
This argument fails upon viewing the proposed Albany Village site plan. It is illogical that cars
heading north on Shelborne Road would turn into a 15 mile -per -hour subdivision road. This
would add significantly to their commute.
Secondly, the developers state that the additional street connection to old 146t' should not be
built because it would allow drivers to look into the attached home street. This argument is
meaningless because it assumes that their upcoming Albany Village community is going to be
unpleasant to the eye and therefore must be hidden from view when driving on 146th.
The real reason the developers oppose the additional street connection to old 146th street is
that they are only interested in saving money in order to increase their profits at the expense of
the Tallyn Ridge community (detrimental to not only public safety but also significant
inconvenience to residents of both Albany Village and Tallyn Ridge).
The homeowners and all residents of Tallyn Ridge urge you to grant our request.
