HomeMy WebLinkAboutM001 Mechanical Notes and Schedules1.All installations shall meet the requirements of the 2014 Indiana Mechanical Code and conform to all federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, codes, and governing jurisdictions. 2.All shafts shown in BIM coordination model are to remain 3-sided until after completion of mechanical installation, at which time they can be closed by finishing the 4th side. 3.Air filters will be in installed in the air handling units during construction. If units are utilized and operated for temporary heating or cooling during construction, it is the builder's responsibility to turn units off during sanding and painting operations. If units are not turned off during these operations, the coils will require cleaning prior to final turnover. 4.Balancing of air systems will be performed by the Mechanical contractor. 5.The mechanical contractor shall furnish and install complete and operable control systems, consisting of individual room thermostats and central control system, as recommended by the equipment manufacturer. 6.All electrical power wiring, equipment disconnects, and final connections are to be coordinated with electrician. All disconnect switches serving mechanical equipment shall be installed as required by NEC and proper service clearances shall be maintained. 7.All low voltage control wiring for the proposed system will be performed by mechanical contractor. 8.Mechanical contractor shall layout ductwork and refrigerant piping to accommodate code compliance and constructability of the project. 9.These drawings are intended to document the general requirements of / for the mechanicals systems. They may not be complete in every respect. The M.C. is required to provide all necessary labor, equipment, materials, and accessories, etc. for a complete and operational installation, whether or not indicated on these documents. 10.Submittals for all equipment, materials, or products must be provided by M.C. and approved prior to installation. 11.Flexible ducts shall be routed and supported in a fashion to avoid pinching or crushing of the pipe. 12.All non-insulated flexible duct connections to hard duct and diffusers shall be secured using flat, braided bonding straps at the flexible inner liner of the duct. 13.Insulated flexible duct connections to hard duct and diffusers shall be secured using flat braided bonding straps at the flexible inner liner of the duct. Once secure, the insulation and outer vapor barrier shall be pulled over the inner liner connection and then strapped to the hard duct. Care shall be taken to verify that no hard duct is exposed at the connection. 14.Contractor shall coordinate the location of piping, ductwork, sprinkler lines, electrical routing, equipment and all floor, roof and wall openings prior to installation. Any conflicts on site should be brought to the attention of the on site Project Engineer. 15.Equipment and manufacturers scheduled and / or specified are intended to show a minimum standard of quality, and are based on the owner's preference. Other non-specified / non-scheduled manufacturers will not be considered. If the contractor submits equipment other than by the manufacturer shown on the drawings and in the specifications, it may be rejected, or subject to review by the architect, engineer, or owner. 16.Any changes or modifications made to this project that deviate from the plans as shown, other than changes made in coordination with other trades or as a result of unforeseen structural obstructions, must be approved in writing by the Mechanical Engineer. 17.Contractor to coordinate the installation of all piping, duct and associated items with items requiring structural support above the ceiling (i.e. projectors, movable partitions, can lights etc.) Any conflicts on site should be escalated to the on site Project Engineer to be coordinated. 18.Route condensate piping to nearest discharge point, by gravity. The use of pumps to eliminate condensate should be avoided wherever possible. 19.Insulate all condensate drain piping, inside the building that is located in a place where conditions may exist to cause condensation. 20.Not all valves and accessories necessary to make this a complete and functioning project may be shown on the plans. It is incumbent on all subcontractors to provide all elements and components necessary to make this a complete and fully functional project. 21.Follow all manufacturers' recommendations with regards to outdoor equipment spacing and clearance for proper air flow and serviceability. 22.Outside air intakes shall be located a minimum of 10' away from any exhaust duct, blower discharge, plumbing vent, or source of noxious or hazardous fumes. 23.Provide tagging system that identifies equipment and area served. 24.Provide fire dampers, radiation dampers, or smoke dampers as required by code and as noted. 25.Fire stop pipe penetrations of rated walls or structure as required by local code. 26.Paint interior surfaces visible through return air grills. Use flat black paint. 27.Thermostats or sensor controls are to be 48” AFF Max. and located to comply with ADA accessibility requirements. 28.Equipment and installation techniques and methods to be International Energy Code compliant to include the following ASHRAE 90.1, 62.1 requirements. a. HVAC equipment must be compliant with Tables 6.8.1A, and 6.8.1B. b. Refrigerant lines must be insulated with minimum 1/2” thick cellular foam insulation. c. Insulation exposed to weather must be suitable for outdoor service (e.g. protected by aluminum, sheet metal, painted canvas, or plastic cover) and must be water retardant and provide shielding from solar radiation. d. All HVAC systems with field installed ductwork must be air balanced in accordance with industry accepted procedures. e. Any exhaust fan that does not have continuous service must be equipped with motorized or gravity damper that will automatically close when fan is not running. f. Transverse joints on all ductwork must be sealed with a UL181 approved mastic or sealing system. g. Ductwork and plenums must be insulated in accordance with Tables 6.8.2A & 6.8.2B. 32. Fire dampers to be constructed of heavy gauge galvanized steel frames, 301 stainless steel closure springs (for horizontal mount only), 165°F fusible link, and galvanized steel sleeve that is two gauges thicker than service ductwork. Fire dampers to be UL listed and labeled and must be manufactured in conformance with NFPA standards.
