PROJECT
The North End Urban Farm (aka Fields Market Garden) is part of approximately 5 acres dedicated to native habitat restoration and urban farming. Not only does it serve to preserve land but it also activates the smaller community of North End and the Carmel community at large to engage in local food production.
The vision associated with these variances involve the re-use of an existing home to be moved to the location in order to serve as attainable housing for the future farmer employed to care for the Fields Market Garden.
The variances required, as noted a one story request (as opposed to the 2 story requirement) and an approximate 600’ setback (as opposed to the 20’ requirement) are applied in order to honor the full potential use of the land for urban agriculture when appropriately re-locating the existing home to honor the intent of Urban Residential.
