Please exercise caution and Do Not open attachments or click links from unknown senders or unexpected email. **** I am in favor of the Area Planning Commission passing an amendment that the minimum distance be increased between gas stations venting benzene and the public in residential areas. Why required control measures are insufficient? The benzene comes from gasoline storage tank vents and escapes to the air when we fill our cars with gas. The State of Indiana does not require measures for new gas stations that can control benzene releases. Therefore, the only measure that can protect area residents is a minimum 500-foot public health safety zone for new gas stations. What you can do? We strongly encourage you to write an email of support both encouraging the Planning Commission to vote in favor of the proposed amendment to the UDO language and expressing your concerns regarding higher risks of cancer and other health problems if the Planning Commission does not support the amendment. Also, please encourage your neighbors and friends who support the change to also write similarly supportive letters. Robert J Behme 2445 Glebe Street Resident of Village of West Clay. 1
