Please exercise caution and Do Not open attachments or click links from unknown senders or unexpected email. **** Good morning, as a Carmel resident, taxpayer, and Registered Nurse, I am asking for your support in voting for the Carmel UDO Amendment increasing the public health safety zone to 500 feet, from the current 80 feet, when it is presented for a vote on May 18, 2021 at a City Council Meeting. I am asking for this change in order to protect all persons that are or will be living, working in and/or using any building (i.e. schools, senior care facilities etc.) within 500 feet of any underground gasoline storage tanks which are found at all gasoline stations. Medical studies and reports have shown that exposure to the Benzene gas that accompanies the use of these storage tanks in the repetitive filling of automobiles can lead to undesirable cancers of multiple types (lung, blood, multiple myeloma as well as leukemia) in both adults and children alike. These diseases will, and do, have a definite impact on the quality of life of Carmel residents, employees, and visitors alike! Thank you for a YES vote on May 18, 2021.
