DEPARTMENT REPORT
MONDAY, MAY 24, 2021
(V) Parkwood Crossing, Selective Insurance Sign Variance.
The applicant seeks the following development standards variance approval for 1 wall sign:
4. Docket No. PZ-2021-00081 V PUD Section 4.7.A 2 wall signs allowed for the building, 3
total proposed. The site is located at 900 E. 96th St. (Parkwood Crossing Building 9). It is zoned College
Hills PUD/Planned Unit Deve10lopment (Z-362-01). Filed by Doug Staley, Jr. of Staley Signs, Inc.
General Info & Analysis:
The Petitioner seeks approval for a Wall Sign on this Multi-Tenant Building. The College Hills PUD Ordinance
that governs this site only allows for two upper level signs total on the building facades, however the Petitioner
wants a 3rd wall sign on the building with their business name. Please see the Petitioner’s informational
packet for more detail on the variance request.
The two existing wall signs on the building are for Mass Mutual (east facade) and Old National Bank (north
facade). The Petitioner would like to erect a Selective Insurance wall sign on the north façade, facing I-465 .
The Petitioner worked with Planning Staff to make the wall sign shape, design, and colors complement the
existing wall signs, so there is some cohesiveness and symmetry. Also, the Property Manager for the building
provided an approval letter.
The Petitioner addressed all planning/zoning review comments, and the Planning Dept. supports this
variance request.
Petitioner’s Findings of Fact:
Please refer to the petitioner’s Findings of Facts included in their info packet.
Recommendation:
The Dept. of Community Services recommends positive consideration of PZ-2021-0081 V.
