2. In cold climates, where snow and ice are common it is recommended as an ice-dam protection membrane at all
potential ice damming locations such as eaves, valleys, crickets, around penetrations, and rake
edges. Consult local Building code requirements.
3. A cricket flashing is recommended for rising walls and other through-roof penetrations greater than 24" in width to
promote positive runoff. Extend flanges 6" minimum up wall and a minimum of 18" upslope (24" minimum is
suggested in ice and snow regions). Consider holding course of shingle(s) upslope from back and upper side of
cricket to promote drainage.
4. Sheet metal step flashings are suggested to be a minimum of 26-gauge pre-finished/painted galvanized steel, 16
oz.copper, .032-inch thick pre-finished aluminum, or an equivalent longevity non-corrosive metal.
5. Consider specifying the extension of roofing underlayment vertically up the wall so that it is over lapped by the wall
cladding underlayment.
6. Dimensions shown are recommended minimums and are intended to be approximate to allow for reasonable
tolerances due to field conditions.
7. The profile of specific components, their configuration or sequencing, can vary with the roof system, with climatic
differences, and regional or area practices.
