A. THESE GENERAL DEMOLITION NOTES APPLY TO
DEMOLITION DRAWINGS.
B. FIELD VERIFY CONDITIONS AND COORDINATE DEMOLITION
OR REMOVAL WORK WITH CORRESPONDING NEW
CONSTRUCTION AND WITH APPROPRIATE TRADES PRIOR
TO STARTING DEMOLITION WORK. IF DISCREPANCIES ARE
FOUND BETWEEN CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AND ACTUAL
FIELD CONDITIONS, NOTIFY ARCHITECT IMMEDIATELY.
C. OWNER WILL REMOVE LOOSE SALVAGEABLE ITEMS, I.E.,
EQUIPMENT, FURNITURE, CABINETRY, FILE CABINETS,
WALL-MOUNTED PROJECTION SCREENS, ARTWORK,
PLAQUES, ETC., PRIOR TO CONTRACTOR STARTING
DEMOLITION WORK IN EACH AREA. OWNER WILL STORE
AND REINSTALL SUCH ITEMS. I.E., EQUIPMENT, FURNITURE,
CABINETRY, FILE CABINETS, WALL-MOUNTED PROJECTION
SCREENS, ARTWORK, ETC., PRIOR TO CONTRACTOR
STARTING WORK. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT SUCH
ITEMS DURING CONSTRUCTION.
D. DEMOLISHED MATERIALS ARE THE PROPERTY OF THE
CONTRACTOR UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE AND SHALL BE
PROMPTLY DISPOSED OF OFF-SITE.
E. ITEMS NOTED TO BE REMOVED AND TURNED OVER TO
OWNER SHALL BE DELIVERED TO THE NEAREST EXTERIOR
DOOR OF THE BUILDINGEXCEPT AS OTHERWISE DIRECTED
BY OWNER.
F. REMOVE ITEMS IN THEIR ENTIRETY UNLESS OTHERWISE
INDICATED. DESCRIPTION OF PRIMARY ITEMS TO BE
REMOVED IS GENERAL IN NATURE, AND REMOVAL OF
SECONDARY COMPONENTS SUCH AS BLOCKING,
SUPPORTS, ANCHORS, TRIM, ADHESIVE, PIPING, WIRING,
ETC., RELATED TO PRIMARY ITEMS SHALL BE INCLUDED.
G. PROTECT EXISTING SURFACES TO REMAIN IN AREAS
ADJACENT TO DEMOLITION WORK.
H. REPAIR FINISHES AND SURFACES LEFT EXPOSED BY
DEMOLITION OR REMOVAL OF EQUIPMENT, USING NEW
MATERIALS TO MATCH SURROUNDING SURFACES. REPAIR
EXISTING FLOOR, BASE, WAINSCOT, WALL AND CEILING
FINISHES TO CORRECT DEFECTS EITHER CAUSED OR
EXPOSED BY DEMOLITION WORK OR EQUIPMENT REMOVAL.
REPAIRED SURFACES SHALL BE SMOOTH AND
UNDETECTABLE UNDER FINAL FINISHES. AREAS NOTED ON
THE DRAWINGS TO BE REPAIRED OR PATCHED ARE GIVEN
FOR REFERENCE AND SHALL NOT BE INTERPRETED TO
LIMIT THE SCOPE OF WORK.
I. PATCH EXISTING FLOOR, WALL, CEILING AND ROOF
CONSTRUCTION AT ABANDONED PENETRATION LOCATIONS
WITH NEW MATERIALS TO MATCH EXISTING MATERIALS AS
REQUIRED TO RECEIVE NEW FINISHES.
J. PROVIDE SMOOTH TRANSITIONS BETWEEN FLOOR, WALL
AND CEILING SURFACES PRIOR TO INSTALLING NEW
FINISHES WHERE WALLS OR OTHER ITEMS ARE REMOVED.
FILL FLOOR VOIDS WITH CONCRETE OR MATERIAL
MATCHING ADJACENT MATERIALS AND LEVEL FLOOR
SURFACES TO PROVIDE A SMOOTH TRANSITION FROM ONE
SIDE OF WALL TO THE OTHER WHERE PORTIONS OF WALLS
ARE REMOVED.
K. ADDITIONAL FLOOR TILE MAY BE PRESENT BENEATH
FINISHES IN ROOMS WITH EXISTING FLOOR TILE OR
CARPET. REMOVE ALL LAYERS OF EXISTING FLOOR
COVERINGS TO PROVIDE APPROPRIATE SUBSTRATE FOR
NEW FLOOR FINISHES.
L. SELECTIVE DEMOLITION FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW
MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL WORK SHALL BE THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR OR TRADE
REQUIRING THE DEMOLITION. THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT
LIMITED TO, FLOOR SLAB AND PAVEMENT CUTTING FOR
UNDERGROUND PIPING, CORING FOR WALL AND FLOOR
PENETRATIONS, ROOF PENETRATIONS, ETC.
M. DISCONNECT AND CAP-OFF OR REMOVE OBSOLETE
EXISTING UTILITY AND SERVICE LINES PRIOR TO STARTING
DEMOLITION WORK.
N. IF EXISTING ITEMS TO BE REMOVED OR DISTURBED ARE
SUSPECTED OR DISCOVERED TO CONTAIN ASBESTOS OR
OTHER HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, STOP DEMOLITION AND
NOTIFY OWNER AND ARCHITECT IMMEDIATELY.
O. FINISH CEILINGS TO MATCH ADJACENT AREAS WHERE
WALLS ARE REMOVED.
