B. PIPE AND DUCT ROUTINGS AND CLEARANCES INDICATED ARE BASED ON BEST AVAILABLE
INFORMATION. CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY PIPING, DUCTWORK, ELECTRICAL, AND STRUCTURAL
DETAILS OF EXISTING AND NEW INSTALLATIONS DURING AND AFTER DEMOLITION (PRIOR TO NEW
INSTALLATIONS) TO DETERMINE WORK NECESSARY TO INSTALL WORK AS SHOWN AND INTENDED.
CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE ENGINEER WITH ANY CONCERNS UPON COMPLETION OF THIS
EFFORT.
C. COORDINATE OUTAGES WITH OTHER CONTRACTORS, OWNER, AND MAINTENANCE STAFF.
PROVIDE SUFFICIENT ADVANCE SCHEDULING TO MEET OCCUPANTS AND FACILITY PERSONNELS
REQUIREMENTS FOR PLANNING AND COORDINATING FOR SYSTEMS WHICH MAY NOT BE EASILY

D. WHERE MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING, AND FIRE PROTECTION WORK IS DETERMINED TO
PENETRATE EXISTING FLOORS, WALLS, CEILING, OR ROOF, THE OPENING THROUGH WHICH THE
ABOVE DESCRIBED ITEM IS TO PASS MUST BE REPAIRED OR BUILT BACK BY THE CONSTRUCTION
TRADE SKILLED IN THE WORK TO BE PERFORMED. SUBCONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
PROCURRING THE SERVICES OF SKILLED CONTRACTOR.
E. PROVIDE TEMPORARY PATCHING AS REQUIRED FOR INFECTION CONTROL AS DETERMINED BY
HOSPITAL INFECTION CONTROL DEPARTMENT AND MAINTAIN EXISTING FIRE AND SMOKE RATINGS.
F. WHERE PRE-DEMOLITION AIRFLOW READINGS ARE NOTED, TAKE READINGS PRIOR TO BEGINNING
ANY DEMOLITION WORK OR CONSTRUCTING NEGATIVE AIR PRESSURE BARRIERS. PRE-
DEMOLITION TAB WORK WILL LIKELY OCCUR AFTER NORMAL HOURS, CONFIRM WITH OWNER.
G. ALL DUCTWORK, PIPING, AND EQUIPMENT INDICATED BY DASHED LINETYPE SHALL BE REMOVED AS
DESCRIBED BY PLAN NOTES. REMOVE OR REUSE ASSOCIATED HANGERS. DO NOT LEAVE UNUSED
EQUIPMENT ABANDONED ABOVE CEILING. ALL TERMINAL UNITS TO BE REMOVED SHALL ALSO
HAVE SUPPLY DUCTS REMOVED BACK TO MAIN DUCTS AS INDICATED AND CAP SUITABLE FOR +4"
W.G. REMOVE PIPING RUNOUTS BACK TO MAIN AND CAP. FOR PIPING RUNOUTS THAT ARE TO BE
REUSED, REMOVE ALL CONTROL VALVES, BALANCE VALVES, STRAINERS , AND PIPING
ACCESSORIES TO BRANCH SHUT-OFF VALVES. ALL EXISTING TERMINAL UNITS, DDC
CONTROLLERS, ROOM PRESSURE MONITORS, AND HARDWARE TO BE REMOVED SHALL BE DONE
SO IN A MANNER TO MINIMIZE DAMAGE AND OFFERED TO THE OWNER. CONTRACTOR SHALL
DISCARD ALL DEVICES NOT WISHED TO BE RETAINED BY THE OWNER.
GENERAL MECHANICAL NOTES
A. CONTRACTOR TO INSTALL ACCESS PANELS AT ALL FIRE DAMPERS. REFER TO DETAILS AND
SPECIFICATIONS FOR MINIMUM ACCESS PANEL SIZES. COORDINATE LOCATIONS TO ENSURE ACCESS
PANELS ARE NOT OBSTRUCTED.
B. REFER TO SCHEDULES FOR DIFFUSER AND TERMINAL UNIT RUNOUT SIZES.
C. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, TERMINAL UNIT DISCHARGE DUCT SHALL BE THE SAME SIZE AS THE
TERMINAL UNIT DISCHARGE CONNECTION.
D. LOCATE ALL TERMINAL UNITS, DAMPERS, VALVES, AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRING ACCESS IN AN
UNOBSTRUCTED LOCATION ABOVE LAY-IN CEILING. COORDINATE THE INSTALLATION OF A CEILING
ACCESS PANEL WITH GENERAL CONTRACTOR.
E. FIELD VERIFY LOCATION OF ALL FLOOR PENETRATIONS PRIOR TO CUTTING TO ASSURE THAT NO
FLOOR PENETRATION CONFLICTS WITH EXISTING BEAMS OR JOISTS. FLOOR PENETRATIONS SHALL
BE ONLY THROUGH THE SLAB. DO NOT CUT THROUG BEAMS OR JOISTS. NOTIFY ARCHITECT AND
ENGINEER FOR ANY REQUIRED MODIFICATIONS PRIOR TO CUTTING.
F. REFER TO TERMINAL UNIT SCHEDULE FOR PIPE RUNOUT SIZES.
G. MINIMUM PIPE SIZE SHALL NOT BE LESS THAN 3/4".
H. ALL NEW AIR-HANDLING SYSTEMS AND ASSOCIATED DISTRIBUTION SHALL COMPLY WITH NFPA-90A.
I. ALL DUCTWORK AND PIPE INSULATION SHALL BE INSTALLED CONTINUOUSLY THROUGH WALLS.
OPENINGS SHALL BE FRAMED LARGE ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE INSULATED PIPE/DUCT. ALLOW
ENOUGH ANNULAR SPACE FOR PROPER SEALANT. NON-RATED WALLS SHALL HAVE NON-
COMBUSTIBLE SEALANT. RATED BARRIERS SHALL HAVE A UL-LISTED FIRESTOPPING ASSEMBLY.
INSTALL FIRESTOPPING ASSEMBLY IN COMPLIANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S WRITTEN INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS AND IN COMPLIANCE WITH UL-LISTED ASSEMBLY.
J. COORDINATE THERMOSTATS, HUMIDISTATS, DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SENSORS, AND ALL OTHER
WALL MOUNTED DEVICES WITH ALL DISCIPLINES PRIOR TO ROUGHING IN.
K. REFER TO H801 DRAWING FOR DETAILS. WHERE APPROPRIATE, SPECIFIC DETAILS HAVE BEEN
REFERENCED ON THE PLANS. IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN DRAWING CLARITY, NOT ALL DETAILS HAVE
