This main focus, combined with the need to provide environmentally friendly energy opportunities to homeowners, has moved the board to encourage an accepting stance on energy conversion. The Briarwood Homeowners Association Bylaws & Covenants - developed in a pre-solar power energy era - contain no provisions or restrictions set to oversee homeowners adding solar panels to their property. Therefore, the Briarwood HOA Board will follow the regulations and laws established by the City of Carmel on Solar Energy. As long as all of the City of Carmel ordinances are followed, the Briarwood HOA will happily support efforts to embrace new energy sources. However, we respectfully request that neighbors restrict solar panels to rooftops or backyard installations to maintain the beauty of our neighborhood. The Board requests from each homeowner considering a solar panel project to provide project plans with an opportunity to review the proposed panel formation, dimensions and placement for neighborhood peace and harmony. Homeowners should strive to discreetly place rooftop panels as much as the sun allows. Any free-standing panels should be set at a height no higher than fence high to reduce obstructed view objections. If free-standing panels pose an element of risk to children or animals, the neighborhood requests protective fencing be added to prevent mishaps. This can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to ensure all safety considerations have been identified and resolved. Approval of Proposed Solar Panel Project Based upon the proposed plans submitted to date, the Briarwood HOA Board approves the Chris and Paula Lord request for solar panels to be installed on their garage roof, provided that the plans and installation are in accordance with all City of Carmel regulations and the requests stated above.
