A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL,
INDIANA SUPPORTING DEVELOPMENT OF AN OVERHEAD WALKWAY
ACROSS KEYSTONE AVENUE
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Carreel, Indiana (the "Council")
has determined that the City should construct a pedestrian walkway over Keystone
Avenue within the area depicted on Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated herein for
the public's use (the "Walkway"); and
WHEREAS, the Council believes it is important to pursue a Transportation
Enhancement Activity ("TEA") reimbursement grant to fund eighty percent (80%) of the
construction costs of the Walkway; and
WHEREAS, the construction costs of the Walkway are estimated to be Five
Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000.00) which with a successful grant would result in a
cost to the City of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00); and
WHEREAS, the Altemative Transportation Component to the Thoroughfare Plan
(the "Map") supports the construction of the Walkway, such Map attached hereto as
Exhibit B and incorporated herein by this reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of
Cannel, Indiana, that:
The Common Council of the City of Carmel is interested in funding
construction of a pedestrian walkway over Keystone Avenue within the
area depicted on Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated herein for the
public' s use (the "Walkway"); and
The Common Council requests the Administration to pursue a
Transportation Enhancement Activity ("TEA") reimbursement grant to
fund eighty percent (80%) of the construction costs of the Walkway.
