HomeMy WebLinkAboutBPW-09-20-95-05 EMS ServiceRESOLUTION C'R- ~~'-O~"' A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF CARMEL'S FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES TO RESIDENTS OF CARMEL, INDIANA AND CLAY TOWNSHIP, HAMILTON COUNTY, INDIANA WHEREAS, the City of Carmel has applied to the State Emergency Management Agency for certification to provide advanced life support and expects to receive certification by the 1st day of October, 1995; WHEREAS, the City of Carmel, through the Carmel Fire Department, desires to provide emergency medical services to the residents of the City of Carmel/Clay Township, Hamilton County, Indiana; WHEREAS, the City of Carmel is authorized to provide emergency medical services pursuant to Indiana Statute I.C. 16-1-39-15, et seq.; WHEREAS, Carmel will incur costs with respect to providing the above-described service; WHEREAS, Carmel has concluded that the basic life support charge for Ambulance will be $225.00 per run and the advanced life support charge will be $350.00 per run; and WHEREAS, the City of Carmel will receive from the Hamilton County Emergency. Medical Fund certain tax levies which have been collected by the County from Township and City residents. WHEREAS, Carmel is desirous of entering into a contract with Nyhart Company to provide billing of the above services to the residents who have received emergency medical services; and WHEREAS, The Carmel City Council has authorized the Carmel Board of Public Works and Safety to enter into this agreement; WHEREAS, the Carmel City Council has indicated that after the agreement has been signed, that they will adopt an ordinance authorizing the City of Carmel to authorize the Fire Department to provide emergency medical services and to collect fees to be delivered to the Carmel Clerk-Treasurer and placed in a non-reverting fund for capital equipment used in providing emergency medical services. NOW, THEREFORE, the Carmel Board of Public Works and Safety, consideration of mutual covenants contained herein, agree as follows: 1. That the Carmel Fire Department is authorized to enter into contract to provide emergency medical services and charge fees with citizens who benefit from said services in the amount of $225.00 for basic life support charge and for advanced life Support charge of $350.00 within the terms and meanings of the Indiana Statute and the Indiana Emergency Medical Act. The Carmel Board of Public Works and Safety further authorizes and requests that the Carmel Common Council adopt an ordinance approving this resolution.
