A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL,
INDIANA, REQUESTING AN AMENDMENT TO
THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
WHEREAS, the Common Council believes certain provisions of the
Comprehensive Plan should be amended to reflect current planning
objectives; and
WHEREAS, a petition signed by over 700 residents of western Clay
Township was presented to the Common Council and included in the
public record of its meeting March 2, 1992 and the petition
requests that development density on land zoned S-1 should average
no more than 1 unit per gross acres; and
WHEREAS, IC 36-7-4-511 (b) states:
"If the legislative body wants an amendment (to the
Comprehensive Plan), it may direct the plan commission
to prepare the amendment and submit it in the same manner
as any other amendment to the comprehensive plan. The
commission shall prepare and submit the amendment within
sixty (60) days after the formal written request by the
legislative body."
WHEREAS, the Common Council desires to direct the Carmel Plan
Commission to prepare an amendment, the purpose of which is
described herein, and
WHEREAS, the Common Council believes this amendment is in the best
interests of the Citizens of the City of Carmel;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CARMEL, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Common Council has recognized the desire of many
residents of the Clay West area to have development density no more
than one (1) unit per acre. The Common Council supports that there
are such currently designated S-1 zoning areas where that would be
appropriate, through such guidelines might not apply to the
entirety of the currently zoned S-1 areas within the City of Carmel
and Clay Township.
SECTION 2. The Common Council desires an amendment to the Carmel
Comprehensive Plan to reflect the width of pavement on 106th
Street, 126th Street and 131st Street to be no more than three (3)
lanes.
SECTION 3. The Plan Commission is directed to prepare an amendment
to the Comprehensive Plan which reflects the amendments described
in Section 1 and Section 2, and submit~it in the same manner as any
other amendment to the Comprehe ~'. Plan.
