A RESOLUTION OF SUPPORT OF THE PRESIDENT, CONGRESS, AND
UNITED STATES MILITARY FORCES STATIONED IN SAUDI ARABIA
WHEREAS, the President and Congress of the United States have stationed
U.S. Military Forces in Saudi Arabia to enforce the United Nation's Resolution
providing for the liberation of Kuwait~ and
WHEREAS, these military forces are comprised, in part, from the citizens
of Carmel, Indiana, their husbands, wives, sons and daughters; and
WHEREAS, it is fit and proper for all Americans, regardless of race,
creed, color, religion, age, sex, or country of national origin, to
demonstrate, in the face of challenge, their support for those United States
Armed Forces stationed in Saudi Arabia~
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ~esolved by the Common Council of the City of
Carmel, Indiana:
That the Common Council supports the actions of the President and
Congress of the United States and those brave men and women comprising the
U.S. Military Forces stationed in Saudi Arabia for the liberation of Kuwait~
That the Common Council calls upon.all the citizens of Carmel, Indiana,
to demonstrate their support of those U.S. Military Forces by displ'aying the
American flag in all appropriate places~ wearing and exhibiting yellow ribbons
which have been deemed evidence of support of our Armed Forces$ and
remembering our servicemen and women in our prayers and thoughts.
ALL OF WHICH IS RESOLVED this 22nd day of January, 1991.
