Wessex Through-Floor Residential Elevator
THE FOLLOWING WORK, INCLUDING ADDITIONAL WORK DEEMED TO BE NECESSARY OR ADVISABLE, IS
NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF DME ACCESS, LLC. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST AND COMPLETION
OF THE FOLLOWING:
A. Building structural engineer to assure that building will safely support all loads imposed by the
elevator equipment on the Rim Joists, Walls and Ceiling. Typical loads imposed on Rim Joists is
1850 lbf and 412 lbf at Floor and Ceiling (Refer to job specific drawings for deviation). Both
landings floor area must be smooth and level within 3/8”.
B. All manufacturer backing requirements, finishing of drywall, trim work and flooring is not the
responsibility of DME. DME will provide the aperture for the lift opening and installation. The
drywall for the faces of the aperture opening will be installed with the aperture at the time of
installation.
C. If determined necessary, a separate/remote location for the equipment’s powerpack may be
required (maximum distance of 23’-3” from the equipment and temperature controlled between
50-90 degrees Fahrenheit). This may require 1 ¾” hole(s) to be drilled or sleeved through
walls/ceiling or floor to be opened to run the 1 ½” conduit chase for the hydraulic home/wiring
for the power pack equipment.
D. Floor openings must be left in a sage condition per OSHA standards, the hole to be covered and/or
a barrier and warning notice provided.
E. Heavy Duty, lockable, fused 3 pole disconnect switch with interlocking cover required (Model
Square DH321N or equivalent). Motor/equipment: 220-240 vols, 15 amps, 1 phase. Anything
above or below will require a voltage regulator/transformer. Piping/wiring from main panel to
the disconnect and piping from the disconnect to the J-box location on the top landing. Location
of disconnect and J-box coordinated with DME.
F. Installation of a 24-hour telephone line. Line should be made available (at J-box) near the location
of the elevator control board (top landing location, coordinated by DME). Building owner is
responsible for telephone service prior to any final elevator inspection necessary.
G. Any necessary general construction and electrical permits and fees are by others. (DME obtains
only the residential elevator permit, if necessary)
H. Others to provide properly sized, clear and protected path to installation area. If necessary, on
site storage of delivered equipment must be provided and protected.
