A RESOLUTION BANNING PEDESTRIAN RACES
ON MAJOR TRAFFIC THOROUGHFARES

WHEREAS, the Camel Board of Public Works and Safety is
charged with the duty of protecting the health, safety and
welfare of the citizens of the City of Camel, Indiana; and
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board that a
hazard exists to individuals engaged inmarathons, foot races,
walking marathons, and related activity on major thoroughfares
within the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works
and Safety of the City of Carmel, Indiana, that:
It is hereby established as the policy of the Carmel Board
of Public Works and Safety that no pedestrian races, marathons,
walks, or other public events will be sanctioned or approved by
this Board where the course, or a portion of the course, to be
followed by participants, occurs on major traffic thoroughfares.
The traffic thoroughfares to which this ban is directed include,
but are not limited to, Keystone Avenue, Rangeline Road, Camel
Drive, and such other high vehicular traffic areas as the Board
may deem appropriate.
All of which is RESOLVED ~= day of May, 1990, by the
Carmel Board of Public Works, it County, Indiana.
