A RESOLUTION PERMITTING THE CITY OF CARMEL TO PAY EMPLOYEE,
LINDA S. STUM THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HER BI-WEEKLY WORKER'S
COMPENSATION PAYMENTS AND HER NORMAL TAKE-HOME PAY,
1N ACCORDANCE WITH SEC. 2-52 OF CARMEL CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the City of Carmel purchases Worker's Compensation insurance to
compensate for time lost due to workplace injuries; and
WHEREAS, Worker's Compensation insurance pays only 66-2/3% of an employee's
weekly gross wages; and
WHEREAS, Sec. 2-52 of Carmel City Code authorizes the Board of Public Works and
Safety to supplement an individual's Worker's Compensation payments to permit the employee
to receive his or her normal "take-home pay"; and
WHEREAS, Linda S. Stum of the Carmel Police Department sustained a foot injury
while working for the City, and will be unable to work for a minimum of two (2) weeks
following foot surgery on May 8, 2002.
Safety
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Carmel Board of Public Works and
as follows:
For that period during which employee Linda S. Stum receives Worker's
Compensation payments for loss of wages due to foot surgery performed on May
8, 2002, the City shall pay Ms. Stum the difference between her weekly Worker's
Compensation payments and her normal weekly net pay (based on 37.5 hours of
work at her current hourly rate).
Supplemental payments shall be made on a bi-weekly basis, and shall cease when
Ms. Stum's Worker's Compensation benefits for loss of wages cease. Regardless
of the length of her absence, the salary supplements paid by the City to Ms. Stum
shall not extend more than four (4) work weeks beyond May 8, 2002.
