A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA,
SUPPORTING A CENTRAL INDIANA EMERGENCY TRAINING CENTER
WHEREAS, Hamilton County will continue to experience rapid population, business and
residential growth for the foreseeable future; and
WHEREAS, in order to retain a high level of public safety service, all public safety agencies in
Hamilton County must continue to expand and improve their training and preparedness efforts and to keep
current on changing law enforcement and fire protection laws, technology and techniques; and
WHEREAS, the construction of a modem public safety training facility located in Hamilton
County and made available to all Hamilton County law enforcement and fire protection agencies will

provide new training opportunities not currently available, and help ensure that our public safety
personnel are some of the best trained in the United States; and
WHEREAS, the Central Indiana Emergency Training Center of Fishers, Indiana, an organization
whose Board of Directors includes representatives from the Fishers, Westfield, Noblesville and Carmel
Police and Fire Departments and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, has researched the need for a
modem centralized emergency training center; and
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, believes that a centralized
emergency training facility is needed in Hamilton County and will benefit the City's public safety
personnel and every Carmel resident and visitor, reduce outside instruction time and expense, and limit
potential City liability in the event of a serious public emergency.
