CC-09-03-02-02 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA, SUPPORTING A CENTRAL INDIANA EMERGENCY TRAINING CENTER WHEREAS, Hamilton County will continue to experience rapid population, business and residential growth for the foreseeable future; and WHEREAS, in order to retain a high level of public safety service, all public safety agencies in Hamilton County must continue to expand and improve their training and preparedness efforts and to keep current on changing law enforcement and fire protection laws, technology and techniques; and WHEREAS, the construction of a modem public safety training facility located in Hamilton County and made available to all Hamilton County law enforcement and fire protection agencies will enable our community to take advantage of economies of scale, eliminate duplicative training sources, provide new training opportunities not currently available, and help ensure that our public safety personnel are some of the best trained in the United States; and WHEREAS, the Central Indiana Emergency Training Center of Fishers, Indiana, an organization whose Board of Directors includes representatives from the Fishers, Westfield, Noblesville and Carmel Police and Fire Departments and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, has researched the need for a modem centralized emergency training center; and WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, believes that a centralized emergency training facility is needed in Hamilton County and will benefit the City's public safety personnel and every Carmel resident and visitor, reduce outside instruction time and expense, and limit potential City liability in the event of a serious public emergency. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, that the Common Council supports the efforts of the Central Indiana Emergency Training Center and the construction, development and operation of a centralized emergency training center in Hamilton County, Indiana.
