Whereas the City Council of the City of Carmel wishes to provide a vehicle
for communication with the various departments of city government, and
Whereas the City Council is seeking to improve the efficency of the
budgetary process, and
Whereas the. City Council wishes to make a periodic review of the City's
budgetary claims, and
Whereas the City Council wishes to stay informed of matters relating to the
internal policies of the various city departments;
Therefore, be it resolved by the Common Council of the City of
Carmel that:
Section 1. The following standing committees of the City Council shall
be formed:
A. Fire Department
B. Police Department
C. City Utilities, Water and Wastewater
D. Street Department & Engineering Department
E. Mayor & Clerk Treasurer
F. City Court, Department of Law, & Board of Public Works
G. Department of Community Development, Plan Commission, &
Board of Zoning Appeals
Section 2. Each of these committees shall be charged with the following:
A. To act as a liason between the City Council and the corresponding
city departments.
B. To monitor the expenditures of the departments and to assist the
department heads in preparing budget requests and making
presentations to the Council Budget Committee.
C. To meet with the depa~:hnent heads (or an appropriate designee)
on a periodic basis to review claims of the departments.
D. To meet with the department heads (or an appropriate designee)
on a periodic basis to review the internal policies of the
, departments and to assess departmental staff needs.
Section 3. In December of each year the President Pro Tempore of the
Council shall assign each Council member to serve on two of these
committees for the following calendar year.
