WHEREAS, the Carmel lligh School football team has distinguished
itself and brought high praise and credit to the school and the Carmel community
and,
WHEREAS the Carmel High School football team finished its 1986
regular season with an unblemished record of eight victories and no defeats,
and
WHEREAS the team defeated Broadripple High School, Indianapolis
Northwest High School and North Central High School of Marion County to
win the IHSAA Division 5A sectional tournament, and
WHEREAS the team defeated Warren Central High School of Marion
County for the regional victory and Perry Meridian High School of Marion
County for a semi-state victory, and
WHEREAS on Novembeer 29, 1986 the Carmel High School football
team played R. Nelson Snider High school of Ft. Wayne for the Division 5A
state football championship in the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, and defeated
the Panthers in overtime 20-17 in the most exciting IHSAA championship
game ever held,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Common Council,
Mayor and Clerk-Treasurer of the city of Carmel, Indiana do highly commend
the Carmel High School football team and call upon all citizens of the City
of Carmel to give praise and respect to the coaches, mansgers and team members
(whose names append this resolution) for their great accomplishments during
the season, for the exemplary manner in which they represent.ed the community
during the fourteen week season, and for their winning Carmel High School's
fourth IHSAA state football championship.
This resolution shall be enacted upon its passage on the first day of
December, 1986.
