SWIFT W~EP~S, the w~lton County Court, il did contribute $29,724.25 in 1977 for Riverview'S Emergency Medical Services and h~ve appropriated $40,000.00 in 1978 for Riverview's Emergency Medical Services, and WHEREAS, this money comes from the County at large and goes to Riverview in particular, and WEEREAS, Riverview Emergency Medical Services generally do not serve the Ca~mel a~ea, and WHerEAS, the Carmel Emergency Medical Service answered 830 ambulance runs in 1977 and Iiii1 ambulance ~us ~s of June 30, 1978, saving the lives of many people, and W~.~tEAS, the County would be responsible for answering these calls if Clay Township did not offer this service, and W~S, sixty percent of the Carmel-Clay ~ire Department runs a~e ambulance z~u~s, and the i977 Carmel-Clay Fire Department budget was $476,875,00 of which a large sum w~s expended for ambulance costs, and W~, this service is becomio~ too costly for this com~m~tY to bear, and Page 2 Resolution for Emergency Medical Services k~S, this cost woUld b~ve to be bo~ne by Biverview and the CountY if Carmel-Clay did not provide it, therefore Carmel-Clay saved the County that sum of money, and %~S, ~3% of the funds allocated by the County comes from the taxes of the Ca~mel-ClaY communitY, NOW TBEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Con,on Counoil of the CitY of Carmel does hereby request that the W~milton County Council appropriate $29,981.~3 (h3% of $29,72~.2~ and ~3% of $~0,000.00) tow~dS the expense of maintaining the Carmel ~ire Department's Emergency Medical Service for the yea~ of 1979, so that the 'Carmel-Clay community can continue to provide the Emergency F~dical Service to the community.
