A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE
COUNTY PARK BOARD FOR THE pURPOSE OF PLACING A COUNTY PARK ON LAND
CURRENTLY HELD BY THE CITY OF CARMEL.
WHEREAS, The City of Carmel is currently lacking in adequate recreation and park facilities for its citizens; and
The city of Carmel currently owns a piece of property adjacent to
the water treatment facility in the vacinity of Grey Road and 106th
street; and
This piece of property is within the national standards for the size
of a "community park"; and
The Hamilton County Park Board h~,,s in the past expressed an interest
in locating a park in Clay Township; and
Based on the recommendation of the Mayor's Committee on "Property
Development" this land would make an excellent site for a park to
service the recreational needs of the citizens of Carmel; and
A park on this property should be integrated into a plan that includes
the creation of a park in Fishers and the improvement of the Cool
Creek Park in order to better serve the residents of southeastern
Hamilton County; Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL;
SECTION 1. That the Common Council of the City of Carmel request
Mayor Reiman to enter into negotiations with the Hamilton County Park
Board for the purpose of leasing or trans£erring the city owned
property adjacent to the water treatment facility on Grey Road to
the County Park Board in exchange lot a promise to construct, operate,
and maintain a county park on this site.
Section 2. That the Mayor be requested to obtain guarantees
that the proposed park would include as many of the following services
and facilities as is practicable;
1. An eight lane, 50 melcr swimming pool, with a
diving well and "kiddie
2. Three lighted softball diamonds.
3. Picnic areas and sh(~lters.
4. Areas for passive
5. Nature areas.
6. Four lighted tennis courts.
7. Volleyball courts.
