HomeMy WebLinkAboutBPW-02-22-77 Util ExtensionsRESOLUTION OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY WHEREAS, this Board has heretofore received bids on the proposed waterworks extensions and additions which have been under consideration for some time, and on the basis of the low- est and best bids received and estimates of other expenses made by the consulting engineers, and accountants, the total cost of said extensions and additions, including all incidental expenses to be incurred in connection therewith, has been determined to be $733,411, itemized as follows: Construction Costs Per Bids Dlvlslbn A - Transmission Main - Storage Tank Division B - Well Total $ 59,890.00 472,382.00 61,877.00 $594,149.00 Construction Contingencies Engineering - Design and Engineering Inspection Total $ 29,710.00 53,471.00 $709,330.00 Other Project Costs P.S.C.I. Statutory Fees Accounting Bond Counsel Bond Prospectus Printing and Publishing Total $ 3,000.00 1,300.00 7,500.00 4,000.00 5,200.00 3,081.00 $ 24,081.00 Total Project Costs $733,411.00 and WHEREAS, the City has the sum of $213,411 of funds on hand in its waterworks utility funds to apply on the costs of the project; and WHEREAS, in order to finance the balance of the costs of said extensions and additions it will be necessary to issue revenue bonds in the amount of $520,000, payable out of the revenues of the municipally owned waterworks system; and WHEREAS, there have been prepared for consideration by which ordinance has been duly considered by this Board and found satisfactory; and WHEREAS, the bids f~r the construction of said exten- sions and additions have been accepted subject to authorization by the Common Council for the issuance of the required amount of revenue bonds, and further subject to approval of the Public Service Commission for the issuance of said bonds, making it necessary that prompt action be taken; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA: 1. That this Board request the Common Council of the City of Carmel to authorize the issuance of waterworks revenue bonds in the amount of $520,000 on ~he terms and conditions set out in the form of bond ordinance presented at this meeting. 2. That the offi'cers of the Board be and they are hereby directed to cause a copy of this resolution and copies of said bond ordinance to be presented to the Common Council as soon as may be done. 3. That in the event the Council shall authorize the issuance of said revenue bonds and said increase in water rates, then a petition shall be filed with the Public Service Commis- sion of Indiana requesting approval for the issuance of said bonds and for putting into effect the new schedule of water rates and charges.
