Angie,
Thank you for your help with the Faith Apostolic Church (FAC) project. Last Friday,
August 19, we had a phone conversation and you asked me to write a memo for the
project files about the change in my status on this project. Faith Apostolic Church hired
my firm to provide planning, design and consulting services for their proposed project.
In that capacity we have helped the church through the plan review processes with the
assistance of Jim Shinaver of Nelson and Frankenberger, LLC and Rusty Spiars of
Spiars Engineering, LLC. On various Carmel documents Omega is referred to as
“Consultant/Architect”, “Project Consultant”, “Main Contact/Builder”, or “Architect”,
“SWPPP Contact Person”.
In April of 2022 FAC asked the Omega team to make a change to the building design.
They requested that we relocate the interior stairway at the northwest of the proposed
Education Building Addition to the exterior of the north wall of the Addition. Omega
completed this redesign and submitted the amended plans to the Indiana Department of
Homeland Security for review. Two weeks ago the IDHS issued the Construction
Design Release for this amended plan. We will upload the CDR and the amended
plans to ProjectDox for your use. These plan changes were incorporated in the Civil
Drawing prepared and submitted by Spiars Engineering which have now been
approved. The stairway relocation does not change the appearance of the building as
viewed from 116th Street.
Omega and our team of architects and engineers have completed the planning and
design work for Faith Apostolic Church and we have informed FAC that the Omega
team will not provide construction management or any additional pre-construction
services for this project. We request that any reference to Omega as the “Main
Contact” or “Builder” be removed from the Carmel documentation. We expect FAC will
communicate with Carmel Authorities their choice of primary contact and builder
information for your use.
Regarding the appellation assigned by Carmel to Omega of “Architect”, we do not refer
to ourselves as “Architect(s)”. The Carmel records should be changed to cite the
Architect of Record, Cortland Morgan, who was responsible for the Architectural portion
of the construction documents. Other members of the Omega team are listed below
(and are also listed on the Title Sheet (T1.1) of the plans approved by IDHS).
