Note :(A1A & A1B): In accordance with the affidavit sworn under penalties of perjury in the application for construction design release the plans
and specifications filed in conjunction with this project shall comply with all of the applicable rules and laws of Fire Prevention and Building Safety
Commission. Providing false information constitutes an act of perjury, which is a Class D felony punishable by a prison term and a fine up to $10,000.
The plans, specifications and application submitted for the above referenced project have been reviewed for compliance with the applicable rules of
the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission. The project is released for construction subject to, but not necessarily limited to, the conditions
listed below. THIS IS NOT A BUILDING PERMIT. All required local permits and licenses must be obtained prior to beginning construction work. All
construction work must be in full compliance with all applicable State rules. Any changes in the released plans and/or specifications must be filed with
and released by this Office before any work is altered. This release may be suspended or revoked if it is determined to be issued in error, in violation
of any rules of the Commission or if it is based on incorrect or insufficient information. This release shall expire by limitation, and become null and
void, if the work authorized is not commenced within one (1) year from the above date.

This project has been reviewed under the 2014 Indiana Building Code.
Detailed plans and specifications of the fire suppression system shall be filed with the required
application and appropriate fees in accordance with 675 IAC 12-6-3(a), 675 IAC 12-6-7(g)(17), and
675 IAC 13-1-25. (N.F.P.A. 13R)
The current code for handicapped accessibility in use in the State of Indiana is Chapter 11 of the
Indiana Building Code (675 IAC 13-2.6) and ICC standard A117.1, 2009 edition (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Fire walls and vertical fire barriers shall be effectively and permanently identified with signs or
stenciling. Such identification shall: 1. Be located in accessible concealed floor, floor-ceiling or attic
spaces; 2. Be located within 15 feet of the end of each wall and at intervals not exceeding 30 feet
measured horizontally along the wall or partition; and 3. Include lettering not less than 3 inches in
height with a minimum 3/8 inch stroke in a contrasting color incorporating the suggested wording,
"FIRE WALL or FIRE BARRIER PROTECT ALL OPENINGS" or similar wording in accordance with
Section 703.7, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Each portion of a building separated by one or more complying fire walls shall be considered a
separate building in accordance with Section 706.1, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Door openings between a private garage and the dwelling unit shall be in accordance with Section
406.3.4.1, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Smoke alarms shall be installed in Groups R-2, R-3, R-4, and I-1 occupancies in accordance with
Section 907.2.11.2, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Entrance doors in a means of egress in buildings with an occupancy in Groups A, B, E, I-2, M, R-1
or R-2, and entrance doors to tenant spaces in occupancies in Groups A, B, E, I-2, M, R-1 or R-2,
are permitted to be equipped with an approved entrance and egress access control system, listed in
accordance with UL 294, which shall be installed and operate in accordance with items 1 through 6,
in accordance with Section 1008.1.9.8, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).

Type B units shall be provided in R-2 occupancies in accordance with Section 1003, ICC A117.1,
2009 edition and Section 1107.6.2.1.2, Chapter 11, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Group I-1, R-1 and R-2 occupancies shall be provided with fire alarm systems and smoke alarms in
accordance with Section 420.5, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Walls separating dwelling units in the same building, walls separating sleeping units in the same
building and walls separating dwelling or sleeping units from other occupancies contiguous to them
in the same building shall be constructed as fire partitions in accordance with Section 708 and
Section 420.2, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Floor assemblies separating dwelling units in the same buildings, floor assemblies separating
sleeping units in the same building and floor assemblies separating dwelling or sleeping units from
other occupancies contiguous to them in the same building shall be constructed as horizontal
assemblies in accordance with Section 711 and Section 420.2, horizontal separation, IBC (675 IAC
13-2.6).
All ground floor dwelling units shall be in accordance with Section 1004, ICC A117.1, 2009 edition
and Section 1107.6.2.1.2, Chapter 11, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Openings in fire walls shall be protected assemblies in accordance with Section 716.5 and Table
716.5, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Openings in fire barriers shall be protected assemblies in accordance with Section 716.5 and Table
716.5, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
An elevator installation permit shall be obtained from the Elevator Safety Division in accordance with

Every stairway serving occupied portion of a building shall comform to the requirements of Section
1009, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Guards shall be provided where appliances, equipment, fans, roof hatch openings or other
components that require service are located within 10 feet of a roof edge in accordance with Section
1013.6, IBC (675 IAC 13-2.6).
Basements and sleeping rooms below the fourth story above grade plane shall have at least one
exterior emergency escape and rescue opening in accordance with Section 1029.1, IBC (675 IAC
13-2.6).
Suspended-type unit heaters shall be installed and supported in accordance with Section 920, IMC
(675 IAC 18-1.6).
Access and service space for equipment and appliances shall be in accordance with Section 306,
IMC (675 IAC 18-1.6).
Egress through intervening spaces shall comply with provisions of Section 1014.2, IBC (675 IAC 13-
2.6).
"Alternates" to plans are not part of this release and will only be considered as part of this project if
submitted as addenda in accordance with 675 IAC 12-6-l8. Such design changes shall not include
increases in project height and / or area.
Pursuant to 675 IAC 12-6-21, the issuance of a design release does not relieve the owner from
required compliance with all applicable rules of the commission, even if noncompliant conditions
appear in the plans and specifications that have been filed with the division. The owner is
responsible for correcting any and all areas of noncompliance even if they are discovered
subsequent to the issuing of this design release.

review does not extend the deadline for filing a petition for review with the Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission (Commission).
