Kendall moved and Johnson seconded the motion that the Budget as published for 1935 be accepted.~ Carried.' ~ The' Clerk was o~ered to write the Light Co. concerning the hiring of Tom Evans to replace burned out lights. ' Kendall moved and Johnson seconded the motion that Adams salary be raised to $ 1,200.00 per year, the increase to come from the Water Co.' The. re being no fur~he~ business, Pres. Resolution No. , 1934. A resolution declaring the necessity of closing that portion of an all~y lying between Mill Street and t~he right of way of the Morion Railroad, said-alley running in an easterly and westerly ~irection between West Main Stmeet and West Water Street within ,the corporate limits of the Town o~f Carmel, County of Hamilton. Sec. 1. ~e it resalved by the Bmard o'f T~ustees of the Town of Oarmel, Count~ of Hamilton, .that whereas: That portion of an alley lying between Mill treet and the ~ight if way of the Morion Railroad said alley running in an easSerly and westerly direction be~tween West Main Street and West Water Street, is not now, nor for a great number of years, used by the public, an~i ~hereas .the owners of the property abutting upon that por- tion of said alley proposed to be closed do not now use nor do they desire to use said portion of alley, and whereas the liability of the Town of Carmel to maintain said portion of said alley oo'ntinues, therefore: Be it resol?ed by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Oarmel, Oounty of Hamilton that the aforesaid portion of the aforesaid alley be vacated and forever closed.~ Sec. 2. The property to be affected by this proceeding is as follows: The right of way of the Morion Railroad and al~ property lying within and bounded b~ the West by the right of wayof the Monon Railroad, on the North by West Main Street, on the E~$t by Mill Street, and on the South by West Water Street.' Sec. 3.~ It is therefore ordered that the Clerk of the Town of Carmel shall give notice of adoption of this resolution, maming in s~oh notice the time and place where the.Board of Trustees will receive and consist remonstrances to this proceeding which shall b$ 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, November 6th, 1934 at the Town Hall in the Town of Carmel. S. 81 Carmel Water Co. 3005~00 Kendall moved an~ Johnson' seconded the motion, that the resolutiom drawn up ~shown above) ~e passed.1 It was moved by Kendall and seconded by Johnson that the Clerk write Roy Jeffries and Pearl Emans in regard to removing the slot machines and other gambling devices ~t once and keep same out of ~e corporate limits of Carmel. Harvey moved and Lamb seconded the motion that the Clerk notify Mr. Queer that the Board of Trustees are getting in touch with the State Police and inviting a representative to c~$. R~Jksome morning and speak on safety. The Clerk was ordered to notif~'~at the Board would back him in having the children stay out of the East Main Street. The Board also requested the school to furnish two(B) boys,one to be stationed at the Library a~d the other at the Signal , to direct traffic at the busy time. The applicant is Roy Wise of Indianapolis. Carried. Lamb moved and Kendall seconded the mot~n, that the s~g~ing:~ of the ordinance for the closing of the alley between Mill Street and the Morion Railroad be postponed till the following meeting. Carried. KenAall moved and Johnson seconded the motion, that the Board not sen the NeptUne Meter contract. January 3, 1935~ The Board met at 7;30 P.M., Thursday evening, January Std. All members present except Harvey. The Clerk's bond was allowed; interest and stock retirement allowed. Tom Evans was appointed M~rshal. Also, the following officers were named:- Health Officer Dr. Donahue Attorney Robt. Deardorf Fire Chief Rue Hinshaw The AmeriCan National Bank w~s designated as the depos~t~ry for the coming two years; $10,000. O0 the amount.
