163 August 4, 1936 The board met at tz~o city hall at 7:00 2.L~. All me:£oers pro- sent except Lamb and Pfote~auer. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The report of the ditch committe was held over to next meeting. The following bills were allowed: Noel Adams Gernie Seeright O.W. Nutt C.~.~. Trester Donald Moore Traction Light and Power Carmel Garage Tottleben's Pharmacy Northern ind. Power P.D. Newlin Richard Stratton Ray Reese Tom Evans $100.00 4.53 1.75 2.00 59.47 105.06 69.66 42.50 2.00 1.25 .75 4.00 The new contract with the Traction Light and Power Co. was unamimously accepted by the board. Dr. Cooper, a representative of the Safety Committee of the Lions Club, presented a safety sign for pruchase by the town, the matter was tabled until a later date. Dr. Cooper called the board's attention to the danger present at the Monon Railway Crossing on West Main Street. The clerk was intructed to write the Monon Railway Co. requesting a light signal for the said crossing. Dr. Cooper also suggested the purchase of two or three gas ~asks for the use of the Volunteer Firemen. ~r. Weaver of the Hoosier Casualty Co. was present and ex- plained that his insurance policy for the Volunteer Firemen. The board decided to meet with the Township Trustees before any decision con- cerning insurance was made. The budget for the coming fiscal year was read and discussed. It was decided to raise tko salary of the Town Trustees to ~$5.00 per every regular meeting. Salary to be paid only for meetings attended. The ~,iarshalls salary was raised to $100.00 per year. No further business the meeting adjourned. Secy. September l, 19~6 The board met in the city hall at 7:30 P.M. with all members present except Lamb. The ~ninutes of the last meeting were ~ea~dand approved. A letter from the State Board of Health concerning the open ditch on Gray Street and one concerning a drainage ditch north of town was read. Noel Adams was instructed to contact ~rs. ¥illiams and Floyd Horton and attempt a s~ttlement of the Gray street ditch project. 164 Adams was instructed to price signs for ~ollege Ave. between ~ain Street and the alley north of the library on the west side of the street. They were to read, "No parking on this side of the street at any time." Ordinance 64 establishing the annual budget for 1937 was passed upon. Secy. Pres. October 6, lg36 The board met in the city hall at 7:30 P.M. with all members present. Trustees Doty and Carey and Dr. Cooper were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Adams was instructed to order sig~s for College Ave. and place them by the library. Replacement of the stop & go signal was discussed. It was decided to leave the base in place until some other safety measures were put into practice and the effectiveness was determined. The trustees stated they would ask the teachers to appoint traffic guards from among the pupils to act before and after school at the crossing of 431 and :dAAn Streets. Insurance for Volunteer Firemen was discussed and the trustees agreed to discuss the matter with their lawyers and reprot at and early meeting.
