The minuets cf the previous meeting were read and a~opted. Mr. Chester Bailey appeared before the Board seeking information regarding proeedure for additions wishing to be brought in to the i corporate limates of the Town of Carmel. All questions were answered by menoers of the ~oard aha their attorney. it was moved by Moffitt that the Town advertise ~or a use~ grader with ten f~t mo£d Ooard ana sc~re~ier. £his motion was secona by Pa~get and was so c~'riea. The Board pointea out to Mr. Je£fries that this request would ceA1 for a petition signed by the property owners joining the moore menti~ne~ alleyway. In addition, the chair appointed Moffitt and Casler to make a labor and matted'iai estimate should the Board wish to lower the above mentioned alleyway. Padgets resignation was read and excepted by the Board. James ~hornberry wao voted to flA~ the vacentcy created by the resignation of PaCget from the First Prect. ( Hinshaw voting by proxey) The oath of offiee was administere~ by the Town Clerk. The following resolution was adopted: It is move~ that Tom Jewett, Clerk-Treas. be instructed to contact and arrange with the Board of Trustees of the State Agency for O.A.S.I. to make a survey of the position s of the political sub-division so as ~to determine the coa$ of coverage in the Old Age aA~d Survivors Insurance Program. On a motion by Moffitt, second oy ~hornberry, the following resolution was made ana so carried: Be it resolvea that the employs of the Town of Carmel~during their King day~h the afore mentioned employer,be~expecte~ by his employer allowed by his employer, to work for a private individual or upon rivate ditch, or to aid in removelng fore%gn matterial from a private ~ch. Moffitt moved to extend a four inch main south down first ave. SE to the corner of Fifth Street and First Ave. ~E. Secon~ by ~hornberry, Carted Upon a written request from Eue HLsshaw, the town bell was loane~ to .~r. Hlnshmw, the town retaining full titAe and power to recall at any time. Mr. Rax~n Nmel appeared with a pet~n for the black-topping of Fifth street N.E. from Second Ave./~o t~e city limAtes. The Boa~-d instructed ~r. Neel to hold the petition untill the property owners cos~tcould be determined. O.A.S.E. No. S was read by the Clerk. Upon a motion by Moffit~ , second by ~hornberry, this resolution was voted upon and carried. Noffit~ moved that the Board except the gravel bid Of O. ~yers, who's bid was the lowest of all bidders. This motion was second by Thornberry ana so carried. Hinshaw moved street comm. salary be raised from. S260. to $S85. per month. and Donald owalts Jr. Salary De r&~ea from $S75 to $285. per month. Swails raise to be paid from Water Dept. Second by ~hornberry. Carried. George ~offitu tendered his resignation from the Board of Trustees of the Town of Carmel, Indiana effective June l, 1953.
